Holy cow. The animals. Red Cow O, Porcupine! Tortoises Wolf Am I Fox’s Dream Bear’s Vision King Beetle Elephant Fox, Crow Blue Hen Pale Horse Spiders What on earth all the animal songs are so good.
That dog below our waist aroused When arms embraced the pretty gals It came much more as a surprise It happening when I hugged the guys >>>>>
I legit love the lyrics to that song, great imagery: We pretend to care and like we understand Our eyes go soft but know it now: What we're thinking about is your mammary glands And how to sail your birth canal We found the pot that fit the lid No less now then when we were smarter did Our thoughts are like a tea bag on The saucer, all the flavor gone
Elephant In the Dock grew so much for me its now among my favorite moments on TS these lyrics are god tier too: I dont know anything about truth but I know falsehood when I see it and it looks like this whole world youve made children, sometimes I think all our thoughts are just things and then sometimes think things are just thoughts
Still, there’s a whisper in my ear: The voice of loneliness and fear. And I say, “Devil disappear! I’m still (ehh technically) a virgin after 27 years, which never bothered me before. What’s maybe 50 more?” Those lyrics alone made me a super fan.
the virgin lyrics made me never want to show that song to friends or Id talk over that part when showing them lol. maybe that makes me an ass but it makes me cringe every time. one of my fave mwY songs though.
I’ve been posting in here periodically, but basically I have adored Brother, Sister since it’s release. But that’s literally all the mwY I was familiar with. I’d try to listen to some other stuff but none of it really interested me for one reason or another. The reception to the Untitled duo, and really the awesome artwork, really intrigued me. So i gave it a listen and now I’m neck deep into mwY listening to all of this stuff for the first time. It’s all a little overwhelming. But it’s also awesome. Not sure why I couldn’t get it to click before considering how much i truly love Brother, Sister, but I’m just glad it has clicked.
Find some of this, especially lyrically, a bit too complex still, but this album has done a wonderful 180 on me and it's the only thing that will get close, if not surpass Foxing this year. It just sounds so EPIC. First listened to Julia thinking it was a bit boring back in August, but now I can't stop listening to it as it's just such a juggernaut of a song. Very glad to have this click, please do share the next best album or particular songs by mwY to try next :)
Lol. I was the opposite. I'd tell my friends to listen closely to the lyrics of the song and then would get super excited when that part came up. I wanted to see the reaction.
My buddy is slowly getting into them. Every now and then he'll message me "heard this song today, it's pretty good" and that's happened 10 or so times.
I'm having a hard time getting into much outside of this lp/ep. I need to give B,S another shot soon.
At this point, it’s fair to say that I think B,S is basically perfect. I also really love Pale Horse. It’s easily my second favorite. And then the Untitled records are next. I know it’s been talked to death, but the vocal volume (though intentional) does bug me. There is a lot i like from Ten Stories. But it’s still a little elusive for me. But I think that would be next. The rest of their records have songs I dig and songs that haven’t really caught on yet. I haven’t spent much time with them. But really, this is all based on like a month’s worth of listening (excepting B,S which I’ve listened to since it’s release) so I’m sure it will change.
You'll eventually get to the point where you could choose any of them as your favorite on any given day of the week.
Mostly all of it. For real though. Julia, Dormouse, and New Wine, New Skins are my favorites. I love the "wall of sound" aspect of Julia, and I like the restraint, harmonies, and atmosphere of the other two.
Foxes is low key possibly their best. It always gives me cognitive dissonance alongside B,S. Most days Foxes beats it for me. Id say its the next logical step for you since you dig B,S and PH so much.
idk why it just makes me cringe. seems like most would agree. maybe its just me. maybe its bc I grew up in the south or something weird like that. or maybe its bc I was also a bit of a late bloomer. what is the actual point of the lyric even? I almost understand nothing about that songs lyrics. The only part I get is the metaphor for the mouse going to food like a person goes to God.
Huh. Weird. I’ve never heard anything negative about that lyric. I’ve always loved it. It’s so perfectly Aaron
I've always taken that lyric to be trying to convince himself that he's ok with being alone forever. I could relate a lot to that at one point. I love it.
