theres a chance im wrong in this, but of all the songs ive tried to analyze Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore has been the trickiest but i think i have a theory. maybe the song is Aaron pleading to Mike to hang out as a family. Maybe Mike is hesitant to let his kids be around their Uncle Aaron since he, admittedly, goes through frequent "mental collapses" as it were and might not be the most "stable" family member to be around. as someone with a mental illness its very much a thing that happens where people, either consciously or subconsciously, dont want to be around me even now that im properly medicated. idk it just sounds like Aaron making an appeal for Mike and his kids to get away from everything with Aaron and hang out like the good old days because Aaron needs help "rowing" through life.
Have they still not played Michael live on this tour? Wonder if it's because of personal reasons or if it's difficult to reproduce in a live setting.
That is the EU/UK version from Big Scary Monsters, those went out on time. Still waiting on mine from them though, seems like there was a slight delay with the EP.
Almost got excited then remebered I ordered the deluxe bundle so ill be waiting for vinyl until fooooooooooorrrrrrreeeeeeeeevvvvvvvveeeeeeerrrrrrrrrre.
Pretty sure that I would combust if that last guitar solo was coming out of an instrument that i was playing. I can barely handle just listening to it.
I am! Missing things like podcasts and not being as up-to-date on current music, but other than that, it's been wonderful. Being bored is really good for our brains. Having an endless distraction in a smartphone is hard to change out of your life, but it's really worth it. promise.
Deleting social media first is a good way to start that process. Taking a full cleanse head on is way more difficult than doing it in doses I found out. I couldn't get rid of my smartphone though, my work requires one and also has an insane amount of time driving and my love of podcasts can't be replicated by talk radio. But props to you on that feat!
I know I'm extremely biased, and @unbornwhiskey doesn't dictate or control scores and all that, but I can't see any scenario where they get an extremely high rating from PF after this album haha At least they're getting covered right? Never would've imagined that after Brother, Sister came out. Great read btw no need to feel like an imposter, you are damn good at your job (but the guy giving scores should be fired) mewithoutYou: [Untitled] Album Review | Pitchfork
I actually somewhat like that concept in theory. It just seems to me the inherent flaw is that gushing over an album/band you love, or showing too much praise/hate in your review isn't something a writer wants to do if they are trying to keep their literary integrity and write a review that is succinct and informative simultaneously. Honestly if I had read that review and was asked to give it a score based on the review, I'd be in that ballpark. It's him painting a picture of the album, not saying how he feels about it. Which is how I'd approach it if I had to write a review for that major of a publication so that people wouldn't think I'm overly biased and gassing the band.
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. To be honest, I think scores are pretty dumb in general. They don’t allow for any nuance really. Just let the text speak for itself
