I’m 6’0 and usually am a handful of rows behind the front. I try to be mindful of blocking and am pretty stationary to try to minimize how many i block haha. That said, a 6’4 guy and his 6’6 friend are usually right in front of me, or the 5’7 guy in front of me is thrashing his elbows into my ribs.
You're everyone else You're everyone else You're everyone else You're everyone else You're everyone else
You’re everyone else You’re everyone else You’re everyone else (Come on dude at least finish the first stanza)
I actually had several instances back in my teenage and college years (when I went to a lot of hardcore/metal shows) where people would throw sucker punches at me or start fights just because I was blocking their view. Not fun.
That’s tough. I feel you. As a result of hanging w/ my giant friend I’ve become much less resentful towards tall people.
What did we tall people ever do to you? We didn't ask to be as tall as we are, we don't deserve the resentment! Haha
I don't think I've been this excited for one of their shows in a long time. Probably more pumped for this than the CFUTF anniversary tour and the Pale Horses tour combined
I like this album more with every listen. I liked it on first listen but I love when you hit the point where you're beginning to get familiar with the songs and know the great bits as they are about to come. Prime example: walking to work this morning and I hit the "Better luck next time BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME" bit... knowing it was coming I just had to shout along and then sheepishly looked all around me to check if anyone was in close enough proximity to be startled by such an outburst.
Also the end of 9/27 reminds me a lot of the bridge to Bullet to Binary from A-->B Life right before Aaron drops his eloquent French screams, as far as the guitars go
Waddaya gonna do. I don’t hold it against anyone, plus it’s never 1 guy because you can angle around 1, it’s when the general crowd is all on the taller side and especially if the stage isn’t elevated much.
Tortoises just has so much swagger in those main verses. Could see Aaron performing that with some cool mic stand moves a la Justin Timberlake at the super bowl. But in an indie-punk-post rock way.
I was just thinking how groovy Tortoises was this morning! The bass and drums right after the first chorus is syrupy sweet.
so the reason i told everyone to not talk to me about my review is... i finally turned it in ten minutes ago this record is so hard to write about and i'm deeply unsatisfied with what i filed but whatever
Well I certainly hope you called out the groovy goodness we just mentioned. Key point of detail right there. Everyone needs to know.
i didn't even mention "tortoises" in my review but my wordcount was 800 and this album needs a book written about it
This whole time I’ve been thinking this album breaks completely new ground and isn’t like anything they’ve done before, which is still true, but the more I listen the more different parts remind me of Catch For Us the Foxes. Just the overall ambience and forlorn sound throughout.
anyway before anyone gets disappointed the music and lyrics of this are so dense and hard to bring up in detail without getting completely lost in details that i almost ended up describing the entire album generally? hope y'all dig it when it goes up
No ones gonna be disappointed dude, youre great! And youre great for repping this band proper on such a broadly influential hub.
