I used to hate Grist and East Enders Wives a whole, whole lot. One day re-listened and realised they're actually both 5/5s. this band man I swear THE BEETLE KING SLAMMED DOWN HIS FIST
hoooo, boy- of all the days for me to have a 13-hour shift. still IMMEDIATELY bought that deluxe bundle when i got home. didn't even look at the page for details, lmao, just opened my computer and threw this band $110
SO MUCH TO SAY! I woke up naturally at 4.45am (the pre-order time was 5am for the UK) and it was fantastic to watch the video, read the press release and look at the pre-order options in the quiet and stillness of the morning. Sadly the collector's edition isn't available on the UK store and I honestly can't justify the shipping prices from the US these days! I did however download it via Bandcamp. I definitely get the Pale Horses Appendix comparisons. I'd also say there's an element of the Lilac Queen, Magic Lantern Days & Birnham Wood stretch on the Pale Horses. The last track being almost a straight up country sound was completely unexpected though. I like what I'm hearing on the first couple of listens. Obviously it takes weeks to dive into the lyrics properly but I look forward to exploring them. I love that we've effectively got a double album on our hands here. 19 songs from my favourite band?! Sign me up! I know we already knew about it but it was so exciting witnessing the reveal and read the tracklists. Early stand out tracks for me: Dirty Air, Cities of the Plain & August 6th. Calling the releases [untitled] and [Untitled] is interesting but kind of makes sense knowing Aaron's mindset. Don't know if anyone has answered this but it's definitely Vasily Kafanov:
I'll just add that it's a shame that it got released in NZ/Australia early (due to timezones) which then resulted in it leaking. It's so hard to do a 'surprise' release in this globalised world. I know we pretty much knew there would be an EP and most had guessed that it might be released today, but there was still an element of excitement and anticipation waiting to see what was going to happen. Thankfully I hadn't been on Chorus or Reddit since I finished work yesterday so I'd missed news about the leak and got to revel in the enjoyment and tension of 'waiting and seeing' in the early hours of the morning.
Woke up at 12:16am, tried to decipher wtf the bundle had/didn’t have. Saw that the space variant was sold out. Went with the split. Now space has more available. Oh well! Stoked on this release. Happy Friday Chorus!
Really wanted the deluxe Just go ahead and order the space as well, they will surely be able to cancel your first order.
Love reading little snippets about this release from the manager... Bring on the EXPLOSIVE full length.
first song was very meh upon first listen Winter Solstice is so fucking beautiful Dirty Air is pretty awesome so far
August 6th has that Julia feel to it as well........should've ended the ep and went directly into the LP. So stoked on this new stuff.
Just when you think this band can’t get any better they drop an incredible new song and this ridiculously good EP in a week, complete with a Cormac McCarthy reference.
No reason to apologize, it was a gif of disbelief in good fun -- just surprised to hear someone say that.
