Lol, right? Check out this article about the process surrounding it. It's very...well, it's very Malick haha Criterion’s ‘The Tree of Life’ Is Not a Director’s Cut, but a New Movie From Terrence Malick – IndieWire
It's fantastic. Growing up the youngest of 9 with 7 sisters, it really resonated with me haha. I recently showed it to a friend and I think I fall in love with it more and more with every subsequent viewing. This scene is comedic gold
Y'all are fucking crazy, Punch Drunk Love is pretty good at best. But There Will Be Blood is about as close to perfect as any movie ever made.
I mean, yeah, I think TWBB is better, but that doesn't diminish how great PDL is. "Good" certainly doesn't cut it.
Backhanded compliment incoming, I think PDL is more a showcase of how good PT Anderson is and not how good the film is, but I know that might just be me. For what it's worth you inspired me to actually fill out my own profile for people to judge, cuz I love these type of arguments/discussions haha
I think that's sorta what I love about it haha. His mission was to create a 90 minute rom-com, starring Adam Sandler of all people, and he very much succeedes at that. Sure, it hits some pretty typical story beats you might expect from a rom-com, but PTA's vision breathes new life into a pretty tired genre. So yeah, I think I actually agree with you for the most part, and I wouldn't put it above TWBB or Phantom Thread, but I love it dearly. Just curious, when did you see it last?
We're way off track here fellows/felladies. Has Aaron's voice ever been as buttery and smooth as "surely as the sun on the east side comes" on Tortoises? It's almost like he's whispering sweet nothings in my ear to seduce me, and I don't think in a million years I would have written down that sentence in 2006.
Either choice of words makes me uncomfortable yet I'm comfortable with the discomfort. *btw I haven't seen PDL in about 5-6 years so I'll rewatch soon and we can reconvene at a date TBD*
Why aren't there any new posts?? We're not meeting our quota, people!! I'm curious to hear the thoughts of the people who joined the site for this album
You didn’t ask me but I’ll just keep adding thoughts The album covers and the way the ball explodes on the lp.. it’s really cool, I feel like the lp actually has those explosive moments, these tiny balls of energy that just explode and sound incredible. A great example of this is the end of tortoises and the end of new wine, new skins. Not to mention 9:27, head for hydra, and Wendy and Betsy that feel explosive all the way through
It's this or Foxing for me. Need more time with this to see where it lands for the year/ in thier discography. But right now it's my favorite MWY album. Untitled Pale Horses Brother, Sister Ten stories It's all crazy Foxes A--->B life
This is basically my list too but your top 5 could be in any given order for me depending on the day, with Foxes not far behind.
I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I'm new and don't feel like digging through the threads to find it. Anybody else have any mewithoutYou tattoos?
