That last stanza is what really pushes it over the edge for me. Heartbreaking.

 

Should have stated that I wouldn't have it in the same slot as Winter Solstice, I'd probably put it after Flee or Wendy & Betsy. Like I said, I know it's a hill I'll die on haha

 

Also, I still love Winter Solstice. It's not even close to my least favorite song on the album.

Speaking of, if y'all had to pick one song from the LP that you could live with not hearing again, which one is it? I'd probably vote Hydra

I mean... probably Break On Through Pt. 2? But that sucks to say.

It's definitely a Sophie's choice.

I simply cannot fathom that starting with CFUTF, mewithoutYou have released 70 songs and I can only think of 2 songs I wouldn't put in the "very good" to "phenomenal" categories. And that doesn't include any appendixes.

Can any other band over that time make a claim that is in the same ballpark?

Coheed has 106 songs on their studio albums, and excluding intros, I could probably throw out 15-20 songs and still have 80 I would call good to great.

 

I'd like the album more if Dormouse wasn't on it. Still not a huge fan of that one.

 

Still my favorite I think.

Does any other band hit it out of the park at a higher ratio when it comes to the climax of their songs?

 

Dillinger Escape Plan and Why? are two others I feel that way about as well.

Imagine if you were in Belle & Sebastian and listened to New Wine, New Skins for the first time without knowing you're referenced in it.
