I've not actually listened to it yet. They're such a special band that I wanted to sit down and listen to it properly for the first time... sadly this has ended up being a busy week and me and my wife have been out and about so I've not had any opportunity to listen. Expecting my CD to have arrived when I get home from work in three hours and then I'm going to do nothing but jam this album. CANNOT WAIT.
"Hang, the elephant must hang, the elephant must hang" is the line that forced me to start paying attention to these dudes so Ten Stories holds a special spot
Whoa. Uhh. This is NOT what I was expecting because I haven't listened to them since It's All Crazy. This is super cool.
Back to praising the sequencing again. New Wine, New Skins is an exceptional track but it is enhanced by the placement on the album. By the time you get to it, it feels like such treat.
Nice to see that they're switching up the setlist as usual. [dormouse sighs] got played for the first time yesterday. This was the full setlist: 9:27am D-Minor Another Head For Hydra February 1878 The Dryness and the Rain Winter Solstice Julia Mexican War Streets Paper Hanger 2,459 Miles Wendy & Betsy O' Porcupine [dormouse sighs] In A Sweater Poorly Knit Flee, Thou Matadors --- January 1979 Bethlehem, WV
I foolishly chose to pre-order my CD copy from Amazon because I wanted to guarantee I'd have a physical copy today. This seemed like a questionable choice earlier this week as CD orders from the mwY store arrived early, and today seems like a downright terrible one as my Amazon order has yet to ship.
I'm not in love with this. There are a few tracks I love, but overall, it feels like it's missing something. That being said, I didn't love Pale Horses at first either
Michael reminds me of Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt. Starts off with dissonant music and sounds and then descends into crushing layers of music and Aaron losing his shit over it. Michael is probably better though.
I know sputnik isn't the most respected website, but people over there are LOVING this. A lot of high ratings that are convincing a lot of people not familiar with MWY to check this out. Would really love if they could "break out" (not sure what that means for a band like this) with this release.
I want my vinyl! I'm ready to spin this and blast it through my house and scare the ever loving crap out of my children.
i haven't either and it feels like way too small of a venue for mwY.... that's like where i used to watch local bands play lol
