Aaron has certainly gotten loquacious in recent years. I mean, he's always written a lot of lyrics but I could still sing along to pretty much all the songs on Brother/Sister, for instance. Not sure I'll ever be able to memorize this stuff haha. Not a bad thing at all, just an observation.
Honestly, I've found that with the last three albums (Ten Stories onwards). Not a bad thing - there's always a hook or something that is always present and you can sing along to but as you say, it's nothing like the Brother, Sister era where, even though there were some wordy songs, you knew the entire record back to front.
At the 11 minute mark Aaron says there are "plenty of songs in the boneyard" ...let me pick those bones!
This may be overall better than pale horses but I’m not sure there is a song on here better than Mexican War Streets. Wendy and Betsy sure comes close though
It's only Tuesday. I can't believe there was a possibility we wouldn't be listening to this until Friday. Would have been a long week
I think for sure Michael is my favorite, but every other song on here is, at any given moment, a strong contender for #2
Dormouse, Michael, and Wendy really stand out to me atm. But I truly love the album from front to back.
there are already songs on this that are way too sad for me to listen to on a consistent basis. this is easily their saddest album imo

album version on Winter Solstice feels extremely out of place to me and that's my only real complaint
The absolute intensity and rapidity of my love for this entire album has been staggering. In a really weird way, it reminds me of how quickly my love for Integrity Blues (and for Jimmy Eat World in general) grew. I relate the two because there are moments in every song that I am more excited to hear with each consecutive spin, and those moments sometimes change and widen with each listen too.
