Frengers is awesome, so I have no problem with that haha. Glass though........................................... enjoy
the best album is and the glass handed kites. apocalypso - special - zookeepers boy best three song run ever
All Mew albums are great but No More Stories is an all-timer for me, there's just something really special about it.
My two cents on all this Mew business: 1. "The Zookeeper's Boy" is Mew's best song. 2. No More Stories is Mew's best album. 3. Kites, Frengers, and +- are all excellent in their own rights. 4. This new song is my favorite thing they've put out in awhile. Those chord changes tho. 5. I freakin love this band. I feel like so many musicians I love are influenced by them and yet most "normal" music lovers I know have never heard of them. Even my most musically literate friends. It's so weird.
NMS > GHK > +/- > Frengers But they all range between 8/10 to 9/10, so it's pretty moot. Also, I think it's pretty hard to dispute GHK is their most ambitious and impressive effort, regardless of where you rank it personally.
I can get behind this but I also think it's a different ambitious than No More Stories. NMS seems more diverse and colorful and adventurous as a whole. But GHK, as a concept, is brilliant and unlike anything I've heard with how it's all one never ending song.
Fitting for a cold winter night, I was just revisiting the B-sides from the GHK era. I was floored all over again at how well they pulled off this desolate Scandinavian folk aesthetic, despite how different it was from the material on the LP (or any of their other stuff, for that matter). These guys are so versatile.
Mew's melodies are revolutionary. Seriously. Since all the way back to Frengers, I feel like they have consistently tapped into something completely unique and beautiful with their music.
New tune is a little too straightforward for this band IMO. Hopefully it's just the "Night Believer" of the new record. One song like that didn't prevent +/- from being awesome.
Nabbed one. Love this cover, had to have it. Also $25 out the door is amazing for a preorder. Thank u Mew
