Same. I took a break and just blasted through areas collecting shit, but I just needed a break I think. Came close my first attempt back at it.
Whew. Did it. Once I got that second phase of the fight down without taking too much damage it was a lot more manageable. My problem was I’d keep getting to phase 3 with one tank left, just hanging on by a thread haha. That ending ruled When the X attached itself to Raven Beak and that fight sequence started I lost my mind frantically trying to remember the order of operations for the Omega Cannon lol. I didn’t realize it wasn’t Omega and that all I had to do was hold the shoot button Also that mad dash at the end felt like it took ages! Just blasting everything in sight, screaming at the TV haha. Metroid Samus design looked badass af
Tell me why “Hard Mode Unlocked” after that fight and the credits rolled feels like the game shading me
Really fun to watch the speed runs develop for this, they're down to sub 90min. Two of the big exploits is being able to shoot through corners (without wave beam) to hit explodable surfaces you shouldn't be able to and gaining jump height out of water. There's at least one sequence break that the developers must have intended for but it doesn't save time.
You will. I just beat it the 2nd time, maybe took damage three or four times. You'll get it eventually
1.01 Update General Fixes Fixed an issue where, if a map marker is placed on a specific door on the map screen (the door destroyed with the beam obtained at the end of the game), destroying that door at the end of the game would cause the game to forcefully quit with the message "The software was closed because an error occurred”. Fixed several other issues to improve overall gameplay experience. just did the update. Didn’t notice anything in the vague “ improve overall gameplay experience” but I’m glad they fixed the glitch so quickly
who's still playing? I can't stop. Also, picking up a Wii U tonight so I can buy the rest of the games on the virtual console and work through them. I'm just in love.
Got stuck for a bit after the second boss, but I think I know where to go now. Game is so good. Just the level of control, and movement is unparalleled.
100% agree. totally in. I got stuck around the same spot, gets a bit circle-y around there and then back to normal semi-linearity I think. I'm a bit worried about the previous games not feeling anywhere near as good, but I think I should be able to get past it.
I play super metroid once a year or so. I get that it’s dated in some ways, but it’s such a great game
I played Zero Mission, Samus Returns, Super and Fusion before Dread. I refuse to go back to Metroid 1 and 2 though. Just too dated for me to enjoy anymore
Oh that’s nothing, I should translate some of the reviews on German Amazon for you guys lol one literally called it a “tricked out Gameboy game”
It’s pretty easy to tell which reviews were written by a typical IGN Facebook page commenter, who didn’t actually play the game, but gets off on shitting on anything Nintendo for no apparent reason.
I am the same. Currently playing zero mission, will probably wrap that up today and then go into samus returns if I can find a 3DS locally for “not too much” money
Just beat it. That final suit upgrade looks so cool, it’s a shame you barely get to use it. are the rewards for the challenges really just artwork? You could not pay me enough to 100% it in under 4 hours
I really enjoyed Samus Returns. It was great way to ease myself into Dread, not nearly as complex in the controls department, holds your hand a bit more (if you choose), and just overall an easier game
