HOW DID I MISS "DYERS EVE"!?!

I give up. This exercise is futile.

Would it be easier to do albums? I have a feeling everyone would mess it up though by not putting Ride first.

Damn, didn't expect No Leaf Clover to get so much love. The only consistent thing I thought going into this was going to be Master of Puppets would be on everyone's.

Trying to rank songs is just insane. Albums... maybe.

Mine would probably be Puppets, Ride, Justice, Kill, Black, Hardwired, Load, Reload, Death Magnetic, St. Anger.

Not to say I don't like St. Anger

We should take it album by album and rank the songs. Would probably get me a little closer to building an actual top 10-20 list.

Kind of surprised at Fade to Black and One not being on every list, ha.

I'll amend my list and say that "Creeping Death" has to be a live version. Cliff/Jason doing their vocal part and the crowd chants are critical.

"Fade to Black" is, to my mind, one one of the most significant songs in the history of metal. Only Metallica would have mixed the acoustic guitars higher than the solo in that intro and it opened the whole genre to new possibilities

It's definitely my favorite softer/ballad type song of theirs. Another reason to chalk up Lightning as the best ☺

I'm going to start ranking songs on each album.

    Kill Em All...

    Four Horsemen
    No Remorse
    Whiplash
    Hit The Lights
    Phantom Lord
    Metal Militia
    Seek N Destroy
    Pulling Teeth
    Motorbreath
    Jump In The Fire

Fuck. I rearranged that like 20 times. I have no clue...

This one will by the most difficult for me because its my favorite and all songs are 10/10.

    Ride The Lightning
    The Call of Ktulu
    Fight Fire With Fire
    Fade to Black
    For Whom The Bell Tolls
    Creeping Death

    Trapped Under Ice

Even though I think the album flows perfectly as is.

Oh yeah, I'm not rearranging the flow of the album, I think they usually do a pretty great job of that... just ranking my favorites, but this is sooooo hard. Here we go with Puppets...

    Disposable Heroes
    Master of Puppets
    Battery
    Orion
    Damage Inc.
    Leper Messiah
    Thing That Should Not Be
    Sanitarium

I've played Mercyful Fate on Guitar Hero; it's a fun one!

the ships have all sailed to the sea

    My top 10:
    Master of Puppets
    One
    Blackened
    Creeping Death
    Battery
    Fade to Black
    Ride the Lightning
    For Whom the Bell Tolls
    Disposable Heroes
    Wherever I May Roam

That was too hard. Also, it's very heavily weighted towards the old stuff, but I like almost everything they've done. The first few albums are just too good.

For me, I think I'd rank the album as is besides moving Orion up before Sanitarium.

Jason Newsted is such a great bassist. I love his work on the Black Album. When I eventually buy a bass, that album is going to be a priority to learn. Love his work in "My Friend of Misery" especially.

Also, is A Year & a Half in the Life of Metallica anyone else's favorite music doc? I've probably watched that thing a hundred times.
