It's my least favorite of their 3 most recent "we're getting back to our roots, maaaan" albums. Sounds like ChatGPT produced a Metallica record.
I never got around to listening to the Blacklist tribute album in full until yesterday. Picked my favorite covers of each song Enter Sandman - Rina Sawayama Sad But True - Jason Isbell (HM: Sam Fender) Holier Than Thou - The Chats (HM: PUP) The Unforgiven - Moses Sumney (HM: Diet Cig, Ha*Ash, Flatbush Zombies. Lots of good ones) Wherever I May Roam - Jon Pardi Don't Tread On Me - SebastiAn (the "Don't Tread On Else Matters" mashup. The two actual covers are both pretty boring) Through The Never - Tomi Owó Nothing Else Matters - Phoebe Bridgers (12 covers is way too much. But I also liked the Mon Laferte and Chris Stapleton versions) Of Wolf And Man - Goodnight, Texas (the only cover of this song included. Side note, this is probably my favorite song on the album after Unforgiven and NEM) The God That Failed - IDLES My Friend Of Misery - Kamasi Washington (all three versions are good though) Struggle Within - Rodrigo y Gabriela (again, only one version was included)
The amount of times this was edited was hilarious to see play out in real time. The mods had to lock the edit feature because it was changed so many times.
Watched the M72 live streams at the movie theater this past weekend. Was a lot of fun and the band sounded great. Lars actually surprised me the 2nd night.
Nice! I was supposed to go with my son to a theater about an hour and a half away but he got sick and we couldn't make it. I'm hoping they get released soon. Glad you enjoyed it!
I would have loved to go to the actual shows (I live in Dallas and have seen them every time they've played here since 1998) but with the heat and the ticket/parking costs, I opted for this theater this time which was really nice and the crowd was great. It was a very enjoyable experience. I'm sure they'll release some kind of DVD/blu-ray from this tour, if not these exact shows.
I didn't go to the theater ($20 to watch a stream seemed steep) but I did go to the official tribute show on Saturday -- three cover bands that are touring with the band and playing on the off day. It was a lot of fun, took my 13 year old and she had a good time too
I was skeptical, but the stream was definitely worth the money. I would have probably gone to see the cover bands (or James' and Rob's kid's bands that were playing at Three Links) but I opted for the Fugitive/200 Stab Wounds/Spiritworld/Tribal Gaze show on Saturday night (these bands also played parking lots pre-shows at the stadium before the Fri and Sun Metallica shows)
My friend got me a ticket for tomorrow. Stoked to see them, haven’t been since the World Magnetic tour in 2009
Metallica Setlist at Ford Field, Detroit damn @Joe4th you got Sanitarium, Fight Fire with Fire, and Ride the Lightning???? hell yeah
My guess is someone took the design from this shirt Metallica St Anger 20 Years Around Our Neck 20th Anniversary Fan Gifts T-Shirt - Binteez And made a fake poster out of it. St. Anger came out in 2003 anyway, so the 20th anniversary was last year.
Man there's this performance with Lou Reed promoting Lulu on the German show Rockplast and honestly it makes me so happy to watch. They look so free of the weight of being the biggest band in the history of their genre and just be locked in like they're in the garage jamming, gleeful at being able to do something new and different and risky.
Had Night 1 of the M72 tour in Chicago last night. Setlist was sick: Metallica Setlist at Soldier Field, Chicago Can’t wait for Night 2 tomorrow!
