The Vinnie Paul Estate Rejects Idea Pantera Shows Are a Reunion I think this is probably the final word on this.
The annoying part is I see websites focusing on the "it's not a reunion without the Abbotts" part and not the "we officially endorse this" part, because clickbait gonna clickbait.
It's not a reunion. That's the point. But to act like just putting "Pantera" on all the ad mats wasn't a deliberate decision...
Huh. I haven’t listened to Death Magnetic outside of “The Day That Never Comes” in over a decade, and I don’t think I ever listened to Hardwired… at all. But, I like this new song a lot? It’s really fun!
James' vocals are arguably my favorite part of Lux Aeterna. That soaring vocal in the chorus gets me every time. "All Nightmare Long" is easily my fav 21st century Metallica song. The riffs absolutely rule and are even a little different for them.
i disagree. when i did a discog runthrough earlier this year i just kept telling myself "these guys really need a producer or someone to tell them no" when i got to around hardwired. so much unnecessary bloat and none of the hunger and vitriol in their actual "thrash" material
This might be a semi-hot take, but I think the first three songs of Death Magnetic are some of my favorites in their catalog.
His voice, much like the overall sound, feels too clean. But I can imagine that gruff singing for all those years probably isn’t good for him, so I can’t hold it against him.
Thrash is almost always better when it kinda sounds like it's been recorded on a crappy 4-track. Most of the sounds on this single are too clean. It's not a bad song though.
Yeah, I really think that album is better than it often gets credit for. I understand the mastering complaints, but I think the songs themselves are strong.
death magnetic was another modern metallica album that felt like each song could've had like 3 minutes trimmed off
Death Magnetic is great. I can understand some of the critiques but I love it. Agree that All Nightmare Long has some of my favorite “post …and justice for all” Metallica parts
This is one of those opinions about music where I understand people have them and why they have them, but don't understand why they would have them, if you follow me. I'll never get the love for a non-clean production. I was just listening to an album yesterday where I felt "this album would be ten times better if it didn't sound like a demo". I'm just not about that life.
