Master of Puppets Ride the Lightning Black Album Load Kill Em All And Justice For All Hardwired to Self Destruct Death Magnetic Reload St. Anger
i know it's being knit picky, but the overall sound of kill (as in mix/master), and the lack of bass in justice are what knock it down a bit for me. as far as mainstream popularity, i can see why a consensus would rate the black album as the highest. also explains why a third/fourth of their current live setlists in the US have black album tracks/staples: sandman, matters, sad, unforgiven, not the most popular take, but definitely one i agree with. there's a solid 12-14 LOAD album within the two: 2x4 sleeps king hero bleeding mama outlaw fuel memory devil u2 better carpe OR prince fixxxer
Master of Puppets …And Justice For All Ride The Lightning Kill ‘Em All Black Album Death Magnetic Hardwired St. Anger Load Reload
Justice Lightning Master Hardwired Death Magnetic Kill em all (I'd like it better if James sounded more like he does on the next few, his voice brings it down for my personal taste) Black album (I skip a fair amount of the songs, dont tread on me is the cringiest shit they have ever done, american libertarianism is a braindead ideology) Load Reload (a lot of songs with particularly bad lyrics) Stanger (songs are too long, album is too long, drums sound like trash & the lines "my lifestyle determines my deathstyle" + "frantic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-toc" ruin frantic for me)
Obviously Garage Days is a classic, but how do ya'll feel about Disc 1 of Garage Inc? Personally, I love it.
the Mercyful Fate medley rips... Sabbra Cadabra is a banger... Free Speech For the Dumb and Loverman are kinda whatever, but every other track rocks
I still enjoy both albums for what they are! Prince Charming is a jam, and I went through a real Bad Seed phase when I first heard it. I respect you going for a 50/50 split with your combined album. At least we can maybe all agree that Ronnie is maybe the single most despised track from their 90’s period? Maybe even all-time (though I’m sure plenty will want to throw some St. Anger/Lulu stuff in the running if we’re talking turkeys)?
I guess I'm just full of hot takes for this band, because I don't think Ronnie is THAT bad lol. Not a great song, but there are worse songs on Load (Cure and Thorn Within are at my bottom).
I have Guitar Hero: Metallica and the Death Magnetic songs really shine on there. Cyanide in particular is super fun to play.
Yeah I remember when the album and that game came out and how much of a deal it was that the Guitar Hero versions had a totally different mix lol. It really does sound a lot better.
i asked a member in the metallica forums to create an mp3 of suicide and redemption, but with james extended solo followed by kirk's from guitar hero and the track slaps harder. especially since there's no fade in intro or fade out outro.
Can't remember if this has been mentioned yet, but they're headlining the Global Citizen Fest in NYC next month. They look so out of place on that lineup lol I've been to Global Citizen in the past and it's such a miserable experience, but if they're headlining I'm thinking I'll just show up real late and settle with being far back in the crowd.
Btw I think I need to walk back on my hate for St Anger. I’m listening to it at the gym now and Dirty Window and Unnamed Feeling both rip
