I was in your shoes last year and it was great. I think they are rotating out Spit Out the Bone on this tour so I hope you get it!
I was supposed to go to the Tulsa show tomorrow night but I couldn't find anyone to go with and I didn't feel like making the 3 hour drive alone, so I sold my ticket. Have fun at your first Metallica show @inwaves. You're in for a treat.
Remember a few years back to when Metallica randomly dropped the video for Hardwired and how much hype it brought? Can't believe we got an album that good so late in their career.
hardwired was a really good album. And to be honest, I always enjoyed St. Anger. I remember seeing that tour and being impressed. The documentary they made for theatres for this made me like the album more too
St. Anger had some good elements but overall I found it disappointing. If it sounded better and most of the songs were shortened, I think it could've been really good or even great. I also think it was, effectively, a James solo album, and had it been released as such probably would've been received much differently.
The doc I very much agree with this. St. Anger has some great riffs. And I don't mind long songs when they actually go somewhere (Master of Puppets, One) but the songs on St. Anger just repeat themselves for 8 minutes. If the tracks were 3-4 minutes long and the production was better, it'd be alongside Death Magnetic and Hardwired.
It was incredible. Hearing an arena full of people chanting “Die!” during Creeping Death was amazing.
Glad you had a good time. It's probably just the fanboy in me, but I've always felt like Metallica shows were something special.
This actually sounds really damn good. The drums and lead sound great, and Kirk managed to fit in a mini guitar solo lol. I had no idea Kirk sang back up vocals ever.... is this the first time?
I like the first 3 tracks and unnamed feeling. Other than those I never revisit the album, even though I don't hate it.

I absolutely love Lars but he does play his double kick pedal like I played it when I got it as a 12 year old
Lars has really dipped in quality. Go back and watch Live Shit. He's pretty great throughout most of that.
