Okay, I was being an idiot. The album is great. Everything I wanted from a new Metallica record. My fanboy love is returning.
"Spit Out the Bone" and "Am I Savage?" make me wonder if they discovered a time machine or some Ponce-de-Leon, fountain of youth shit.
Been listening to just this since Friday and I really enjoy it a ton. Dream No More and Confusion are the only two I'm not completely into and have no problem skipping. So happy to have new Metallica.
I love that four song stretch from "Here Comes Revenge" to "Spit Out The Bone" so much. I feel bad for disc one, it's been so neglected haha. I really love "Atlas, Rise" and the title track though. I'm not much of a list person but if I wrote down my 20 most anticipated beginning of the year, I prob wouldn't have had Metallica on there. And I really like Death Magnetic. Yet here this is definitely in running for my AOTY.
Listened to this a couple times and I'm very impressed. A dud or two, but overall, this new one is the first LP of theirs I've liked since I first became a fan of theirs when I was in middle school. DM is alright, but this one does everything better in damn near every way.
Even though I like disc 2 better as a whole, my two fav tracks are Moth in the Flame and Hardwired so Disc one still has it going on. This is probably AOTY to me, but so I haven't had a lot of good thrash metal lately so I was craving this lol.
I've been enjoying this way more than I expected. My friends who consider themselves Metallica fans aren't into it at all. Consensus around here seems positive so I'm not surprised I like it I guess.
Toxic Holocaust frontman and renowned audio engineer Joel Grind edited his favorite parts from the album into a 24 minute version
So it wasn't bad at all. As someone who loves this album, it was kind of jarring when the songs cut out certain parts but overall it is a nice effort and cuts out some of the retentiveness of some of the longer tracks. Pretty fast paced and perfect for a quick work out or something like that.
