Summer Sanitarium ran twice, but yeah, it's been a while since Metallica did stadiums, but SS was WAY cooler than this. It was like 6 bands and each of them could do headliners on their own.
SS had some awesome line ups! The one I remember and regret going to was Mudvayne, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Linkin Park and Metallica. And yeah guys, didn't you know Avenged Sevenfold is super talented and play really fast metal with crazy guitar solos? Its obvious why people who like Metallica would hate them
A7X is alright. I don't think any of us hate them. Just not a band I'd go see on their own. Same with Volbeat. The other SS lineup was System of a Down, Korn, Kid Rock, Powerman 5000. Not as good as the Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne, Linkin Park year, but at the time, both lineups were pretty good.
Volbeat is the one I'm not a fan of and surprised they aren't taking the beating instead of A7X. They sound like hard rock with Elvis as the singer and their single "Lets get ready to rumble" or whatever sounds like something Silva would write up there with Click Click Boom and Ladies and Gentlemen lol. And man, I dunno. I think System of a Down/Korn combo sells that one more for me even though I could do without Kid Rock. Powerman 5000 has a few great songs though.
Both of the SS lineups were great. In 2000, and 2003 respectively, those bands were all pretty popular. And I agree A7X is way better than Volbeat.
Off topic, but talking about these stacked tour lineups reminded me of my all time favorite tour with an insane lineup: Deftones, Thrice, Atreyu, Story of the Year, As I Lay Dying, Dredg, Silverstein and Funeral For A Friend. For 2006, I think all of those bands best albums had come out so they were all touring their best stuff for sure (besides Deftones who keeps putting out amazing stuff)
Here's the full lineup - Albeit, not every band was at every show, but... Adair American Eyes As I Lay Dying Atreyu Broke The Confession Deftones Dredg Funeral for a Friend Greeley Estates Millionaire Pelican The Receiving End of Sirens Silverstein The Smashup Story of the Year Street Drum Corps Thrice Thursday The Heist For Felix
Lol Volbeat sounds NOTHING like Saliva but yes they are a hard rock band with Elvis singing. My problem with Volbeat is I'm a fan but I don't know what he's saying half the time. This song is catchy but I have no clue what the words are (I refuse to believe the words in the description of the video):
I didn't get Thursday, Greeley Estates, The Smashup or Receiving End of Sirens which would have all been cool to see but I did get the bands in my original post so I will not complain.
Oh I didn't mean they sound similar, but more that the song structure and lyrics were like one of Saliva's simple anthem type songs that was made for movie trailers and WWE entrances lol. Not to shit all over Saliva, every now and then they bust out a good one like Your Disease and Always. That Volbeat song is pretty catchy.
Yeah I'm kind of shocked the UFC or another fighting company hasn't used a Volbeat song yet. I think the UFC is still using that Breaking Benjamin song.
The servers on Metallica.com crashed. I got in before (my meeting got pushed back) and got 2 Tier 1 tickets!
Site is down for me too. Are the codes different per user or is it the same code? If the latter someone should share please
