I remember the Mest/Fob (still have my now sun damaged photo with Pete Wentz). Wonder if the GC didn't come to Scotland as I would certainly have been there.
Pretty sure I had GC, Sugarcult and Mest here too. I saw Mest with Unwritten Law as well. I get confused sometimes who was with who haha. Not Mest related but Rufio / Autopilot Off / Sugarcult / Ataris was another all timer
This is why during the pandemic I went through and made a spreadsheet of every show I've ever been to lol. My brain was constantly wondering who played with who, when, at what venue, etc. Someday when I'm even older and even more forgetful I'll be thankful I did it
I had a great time with Make A Sound the other day. I saw them in 1999 when they were still Cooter. I listened to the Cooter album nonstop back then, haven’t heard it in years
It’s two tickets to hook city. I’ve been a big fan since the 90s too, I think it’s their best in a long time, as do they, their manager, A&R…Im not sure if my boss has ever actually heard another Fastball album but he thinks it’s their best etc Tony has 3 power pop songs and a piano not-quite-a-ballad. my fave is a windows down, foot on the gas fist pumper Miles is all over; acoustic romance, rubber soul worship (the next single), spacey desert rock etc. Bob Clearmountain mixed some and got loose The first single is a rare co-write that came together on the last day in the studio; a Tony verse and an orphaned Miles chorus. It was one of those like “hit record!” studio moments so Joey overdubbed drums on it later. One take after hearing the song once i just got the test presses, should be a tuneful memorial day
Highly recommended. It took A LOT of googling to track down all the info, but it was a great feeling getting it all done
Interesting. I thought the single was pretty good. I've always preferred Tony's songwriting. Miles has his moments, of course. I'll always check out whatever they release. So, this upcoming album has been on my radar since it was announced. Looking forward to it!
I don't remember this being mentioned but apparently this is the first of three albums? Mest Have Written And Recorded Three New Albums, Including ‘Youth’ – Wildfire Music + News
Coming back to this now that this is out and I’ve spent some time with it, but I agree. This is actually really fun and a great little summer soundtrack. Brings me right back to the early 2000s lol
Considering this new album is only 7 tracks, I guess three "full albums" this year is very achievable.
Played this during my gym, surprised how much I like it aside from being real lukewarm on Young. Right there with the best Mest
i assumed it was gonna be cringy bad so i skipped it. the bowlin for soop song was uber bad, i couldn't finish it. love OG mest but it isnt the same with tony and hired guns
