Haven’t ever taken any kind of medicine like that since I was a kid, I was like 9, in foster care and prescribed Lexapro. I don’t have anything to add except for “isn’t that weird?”

I wish I could remember the last antidepressant I tried. It just ruined me and caused me to just stop trying to find something that would work.

Weight gain and loss with addiction and medicine is one of the hardest fucking parts about them.

It’s so scary with blockages and cats. Glad they peed!

I have my cat on urinary dry food which helps him drink a tremendous water. Not sure if that’s an option already or something to discuss with your vet

  5. Yeah, I was just gonna say, I literally just went through that. It was a nightmare and I'm wishing a better experience for you @Carmen SD . I know they need to remove the blockages, but if you're referring to PU surgery, the one thing we didn't know before we had it done was that there are medications that can help dissolve blockages. Make sure you talk to the vet about that, and I definitely second the urinary care diet. It's pricey, but has been very helpful keeping our guy hydrated.

Yes the PU surgery. It was his second block so that’s why the vet mentioned the surgery next time it happens. He has to have a follow up in a week with this primary so maybe ask them about those medications?

I just don't even know if I'm supposed to be on medication or not because I've been on some sort of meds since I've been six. Now I think my brain was always fucked up but it's been made substantially worse by the metric ton of meds I've used throughout my life trying to solve this problem.

I just want to be functional and happy.

  9. Definitely. No one mentioned them to us before surgery, and from everyone we spoke to, they typically wait for a third time to do PU surgery. Not to say he won't need it, but I would just ask about all options before committing because I know it's expensive. Wishing you and your boy the best of luck

Not that you need recommendations but before I got a set of adjustable dumbbells I used to do fitness blender videos because I could filter videos by no equipment and they used to kick my butt (in a good way). Haven't done one in a while so idk how they hold up but it was a really awesome resource especially for free.

Yeah next occurrence will be his 3rd time. So I prob don’t have a way out of that one. I really hope it doesn’t happen again. They gave him rx food so I guess I have to use that. I went 4 years without rx food because I couldn’t afford it. Still can’t but it’s better then spending thousands of dollars I suppose

  14. In less positive news, my wife's diabetic doctor signed a letter of accommodations my wife would need at work due to her type 1 and being pregnant, and her boss said she would have to work 60 hour weeks to accommodate her (which I'm pretty sure is illegal), so I'm trying to convince her to quit today. It's scary because she is the breadwinner, but she can hop on my health insurance immediately if she quits and I have no doubt in my mind we can restructure our budget and find her something immediately less stressful to get by on until after the baby is here. Right now, my goal is getting her through all of this as safe and happily as possible. We have some savings and can figure out the finances as we go. No job is worth the stress she is going through working 10-12 hour days for someone who won't even bend for their employees in special circumstances.

That sounds like a very unhealthy work environment. How is requiring someone to work 60 hrs/wk an accommodation?

Yeah that sounds like a clear violation of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act based on a quick Google search... I would report that to the department of labor. The worst that could happen is them just saying "yeah, unfortunately that's totally legal for them to do". I would do that before even considering reaching out to HR - they're only there to protect the business, not its employees

I think the boss is saying that they would have to work 60 hour weeks? Either way they seem like they’re full of shit.

  18. Some clarification, the boss is the owner (it's a private business so no HR) and is saying my wife would have to work 60-hour weeks. Because they treat in one hour sessions only, she's basically saying that in order to have 15 minutes to go to the bathroom/check her blood sugar/drink something for it, she would need to take a full unpaid hour. It's bullshit, and after talking with someone from our OT program at work (where my wife actually graduated from), that person said it also sounded like a clear violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act and to contact an attorney. Which is probably too much stress for someone in her position tbh, but kind of reaffirms my desire for her to quit like yesterday.

  19. Yeah, she quit tonight lol fuck that job. I'll start getting her on my insurance tomorrow, she can take the weekend off, we can re-budget to cut some things, and she can look for something way less stressful for the next 6-8 months.

For some reason felt compelled to read Instagram comments on the post of someone I follow about voting for Biden and supporting reproductive rights, and everyone was like "umm what are you talking about, abortion was banned under BIDEN not trump" and of course aren't responding to any of the replies explaining how our government works. But there were soooo many pro trump comments. I feel like I see the big trump flags on big trucks but for the most part I'm kinda sheltered in my own friends and family, and seeing so many comments for trump has my anxiety spiked. I can only hope that most of them don't actually vote. I feel very defeated and anxious.

Between the debate and the supreme court right now I just don't think I can live in America anymore. I can't live in a place where they throw homeless people in jail, teach the bible in public schools with the ten commandments on the walls, spend billions of dollars of taxpayers money to destroy other countries and revoke women's healthcare rights.

    I can't do this anymore.
