Seems like Gvardiol + Stones would be City's best CB duo if Stones is ever healthy again

Didn’t take long for Rashford to have professionalism problems at Barca lol

So only Bournemouth and Newcastle kept clean sheets this GW after my post about the influx of clean sheets so far. Normality resumed.

Marca’s headline today is “Guardiola betrays himself”, which is a bit harsh but shows a difference with the English media narrative.

When Pep plays sufferball against us, it’s “clever adaptation”, but when we did it against them with 10 men it was “negative” lol

Apparently he was two minutes late for practice.

Not that I'm saying you are at all, but seen a lot of Barca fans trying to hand wave this away saying "oh it's just Flick being strict", "he did this to so-and-so last week too". Even if it is 2 minutes, late is late. Not sure why it's so hard for a professional athlete to arrive somewhere 10 minutes early to account for possible delays, the same way the rest of us have to working for companies that monitor log in times etc. Rashford has a history of this too, so it's definitely not just a Flick thing.

Yeah. I think because it also JUST happened to Raphinha, everyone is more forgiving. But, as a serially way too early for everything person, I don't ever understand how hard it is for some people to just be on time.

I set my clocks early 'cause I know I'm always late.

They’re also so rich they could pay for drivers and assistants to keep them on time. No sympathy.

  12. Update on Charlotte playoff tickets…

Turns out they sent out an email with the wrong prices to everyone. After I opted out, I received another email with the correct prices, which are consistent with what I normally pay. Opted back in.

So they weren’t being greedy. Just incompetent.

PSG players aren't at the ceremony tonight because they've been forced to play Marseille one day late due to adverse weather in France yesterday.

I mean, PSG were the first French European winners in 32 years and that's how they're rewarded? You had one job, FFF.

Dembele attending the Balon d'Or because he's injured instead of being at the game where his team is losing kinda feels like the natural progression for how many games he missed due to injury for Barca.

Got to be honest I hate Balon d’Or season, it brings out the worst level of discourse imaginable. We definitely live in the worst timeline in terms of how people interact with sports as a whole and Balon d’Or/MVP talk is up there with trophy/ring culture and stat watchers. Maybe it’s because United are so far away from the top level of the game at the moment but as I get older I really just like watching football and have so much disdain for exhaustive narratives or agendas.

I feel like I have never had a better relationship with sports. Like I read 1 source for Brighton news and listen to 2 footy related podcasts. Other than that, my news on the sport is typically shared in here. I wake up on the weekends, watch the games, feel happy or bummed for 15 mins post game then I do laundry.

I think this is a very healthy way to do it.

I unsubbed from all “meme” subreddits before the season began, and only read the posts that come up on my homepage there instead of trawling r/soccer or r/gunners and that’s helped.

I also used to consume so many podcasts cause I work from home three days a week. Got it down to four football ones (Tifo, Football Weekly, Football Ramble, Arsecast) and I kind of skip through and pick and choose eps of all the first three.

Has given me loads of time to listen to music or comedy, which is a plus, and I don’t find myself getting angry at Gary Neville or Jonathan Wilson, which is nice.

I can relate. There was a time where a defeat in the derby would make me feel sick for a week, for example, but this weekend i just took my pup for a walk. The first goal at the new stadium was a recent moment I got emotive about, but for the most part I have a casual approach to Everton these days. I'm not sure if it's maturity or whatever but it's certainly the case. It could be years of obscurity, too. Not ruling that out.

Possibly stats watching here, as @robbieberns puts it, but the podcasts I check out tend to be data driven ones. That's just me being a nerd at heart, though. It's the FM/Champ man player in me finding his fix in the real world.

My relationship with NFL this weekend was a beautiful thing, though. I have no fixed abode with the sport and I intent to keep it that way so I can experience the pleasure of RedZone as intended. Seeing that Eagles win was like pure dopamine.

@SamLevi11 were pretty similar, I drive all week for work so I fly through a lot of podcast episodes. I only listen to stadio and the tifo football podcast other than that, all comedy and music and audiobooks.

@KrisArronNev I’m also a fellow nerd, so the data stuff consumes the most of my reading that I check out about the sport. Your relationship to the NFL is similar to what I have with football, it’s wonderful. Derbies don’t carry any weight for me being such a new fan. Like, I don’t hate or care about Palace at all, I view as colleagues of sorts against the big six

Yeah more or less i’m railing against the meme/hater accounts from juvenile fans. Work typically has me so busy I barely have time to watch United games let alone consume all the noise surrounding it but we’ve been in a real slow period at work since the season started and I guess I never realized how rampant the toxic discourse has gotten on a universal level.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Basically the same for me, with the addition of Match of The Day so that I can keep on top of the narrative of the whole league and not just what Newcastle are busy making complicated.

Staying away from any football on social media is key to a pleasant enjoyment of sports. :crylaugh:
