This is unfortunate, but I fully understand. England is a hotbed for protesting of late, for good and bad causes; The football fans are generally doing it for the good, the far-right bad.

Yeah I’m always very jealous of other countries protesting culture (sporting or not). We love our corporations over here and that goes up 100x when they’re corporations dressed as sports teams

Or for West Ham and Millwall fans, they simply attend both

Haha yes. I forgot to mention the far-right groups taking club protests down dark avenues. Generally speaking, the Everton protests never crossed the line, probably because of the city of Liverpool's generally liberal leanings. Of course, Southport is not too far away and we all know what happened there.

The Orlando City supporters groups have had pull with ownership in the past such that shit like this wouldn’t fly and they would definitely protest again but getting the entire fan bas on board would be impossible. There is enough money in Orlando for casuals to drop the cash without thinking about it.

    Ayari! Let’s goooo!

  8. Ref stopped play for Minteh being hurt but kept play while Richy laid on the ground and Brighton score

Yeah, I can see why Spurs fans are going to fume over that second goal.

  10. Should’ve been a foul and then didn’t stop play for the injury. I know it wasn’t head injury but literally seconds before that Vicario was stopped from playing fast because Minteh was grabbing his back.

Joel Veltman is so fucking annoying to play against, I don’t like him and benefits Brighton so much

Was there a deflection? I can’t watch closely but looked like something vicario still should’ve deflected wide?

  13. Huge goal to get before the half

Wolves are as good as gone already.

  15. Ref blowing the whistle just as we make the attacking move lol

  16. Don’t think we were that bad in the first half. Brighton look dangerous on the counter and got a nice goal from it. The second goal we gave up was sloppy from Bergvall even with the bad referring so can’t completely blame the ref there. But I think our main issue is not being able to finish. We’ve got into some good spots and just can’t turn that into a real threat or shot.

Played my bench boost chip this week because I needed a good laugh and I’m getting it with every match.

May have already mentioned this, but I read a book a while back about the relationship of black Britons with football clubs like Arsenal and Palace.

It said if you look at the history of the clubs infiltrated by the National Front in the 70’s & 80’s, the few big clubs that resisted (Arsenal and Liverpool, Everton after they kicked theirs out) are the ones that still rarely have crowd issues. While the ones that got taken over the worst (West Ham, Chelsea, Millwall, Leeds) are the ones still regularly dogged by racism and violence and weirdly, for those cases, very little has changed.

It had a while section on the fight between firms from Chelsea and Spurs that occurred ON THE PITCH before what was essentially a relegation play off in 1975.

Why do I have Sels as my GK in FPL? He’s part of an Ange defence, and Zinchenko is their left back ffs. Silly decision.

Got a name for that book? Sounds interesting.

I think it's worth noting RE 70s England that the country definitely had an issue with racism in the sport. I think it was Ron Atkinson who broke the mold with West Brom when he brought through Regis, Batson, etc. And even then they were racially abused on a regular basis.

It's an ugly stain on the sport, in all honesty.

I actually don’t remember but I could certainly find out!

Yeah, Ron was a complicated character in that regard. Did a lot to further black players, but also had a couple of allegations of using racist language. I tend to think actions speak more to hour character than words, but some of what he said is pretty fucked lol.

I couldn’t watch after the first 30 mins but Brighton really need Baleba to get back in form. He’s not looked anything like himself from last year thus far

  24. Draw seems like the fair outcome for that one. Loved seeing us fight back and get a point after being down 2-0 on the road.
