I really don’t understand fan logic sometimes. Brennan Johnson was our leading goal scorer and scored the winning goal in the Europa final. He gets shit on so bad by our fan base. Sure, he isn’t a perfect player by any means. But he produces. Meanwhile, Wilson Odobert is mostly loved. Tons of praise for him. Yet he’s done nothing really. Some weak rumors about selling him and everyone is mad about it. I don’t get it.

 

Another week where I've managed to put a big clutch of my points on the bench in FPL. Goddamn you Spurs. I trusted you.

 

Another shocker of a week for me, dead last in a number of my leagues now. I always start slow and bring it back, but gonna be tough this year.

 

One of the upsides yesterday was seeing Mosquera make his debut away at Anfield and look very good. He didn’t make a mistake, he was calm, he’s good on the ball, and strong.

If we are missing Saliba (seems like he’ll be back after the international break but who knows), this performance really reassured me.

 

I can tell you exactly how this plays out.

Solanke won’t get the surgery. The injection will be deemed enough to heal the injury. We won’t bring in another ST today. He’ll return to play. Re-injury the ankle shortly after. End up getting the surgery. Miss a significant amount of time. Richarlison will be forced to play heavy minutes. He will inevitably be injured. We won’t have a striker for several weeks.

 

Tale as old as time, players refusing or otherwise not getting surgery when required, only to suffer massively because of it down the line.

 

Wildcarding over the IB?

 

Yeah I don't know. I want to save it, and I don't totally hate a lot of my team. Probably two or three major fires that need putting out, maybe another one that is a 'nice to have'. Issue is I used the FTs this week so won't be rolling them over the break. Longer I leave it, team value starts to take a beating too. I'm leaning no wildcard and just manage bits each week, but could totally swap if I see some drafts I like.

 

Basically exactly what happened to cause us to play Merino up top for 3 months last season lol

 

Far be it from me to question Mikel, who knows FAR more about football than we ever will, but I find him bringing Dowman off the bench ahead of Ethan or Leo yesterday just fully weird given how big the game is.

I would have brought on Ethan, who is much more experienced and then physically developed. Just feels like he could have made a bigger impact.

 

Tbf how much could any sub do coming on in essentially injury time at Anfield? I wonder if Arteta was hedges his bets on a penalty being won?

He's essentially decimated the great squad Xabi Alonso built, too. Piss poor decision to hire him in the first place.

To be fair, that's the board that decimated the squad. Don't believe ten Hag had involvement in transfers and was actually very vocal about not selling some players (which probably contributed to whatever happened behind the scenes).

 

Fair enough, they must have the same guys behind-the-scenes that contributed to years of being called Neverkusen.
