Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Newcastle are also incredibly desperate, so I'm not surprised they had to fork over a ton of money

Newcastle are a top 20 team in the the world in the most recent public available financial reports, over 245 mil euros or something like that. It’s a lot of money, absolutely but that’s just kinda what you have to do these days is continue to spend to the max you’re allowed.

Let's not underestimate the German efficiency to get the money they want.

I'm with Sam. He's a year older than Sesko and has not been playing at the same level as Sesko. They roughly have similar goals/games ratio and he could turn out a great player but there's nothing in me that sees that fee being justifiable based on his profile currently. There's definitely a desperation tax on them because it feels like Bayern had been haggling with Stuttgart all summer to get him for like €50-60m

Not saying they can’t afford it at all. Just a comment on how bonkers the market is for forwards this summer. Very few quality options will do that, I guess.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

I know absolutely nothing about him, so you could be right that it's mad. However, we paid out £65m for Isak after he'd scored a whopping 6 goals in 32 league games for Sociedad (previous seasons were 17 and 9, so make what you will of that) and that was a couple of years ago.

We're also going to get mugged for whoever we go for now. Everyone knows we've missed out on our main targets and the sort of the money we have available.

If we can maybe squeeze another striker in, then our summer suddenly looks quite decent. Brentford appear to have another striker coming in, so maybe we can get Wissa for under £50m... Shame we don't seem to have been able to do anything for the Porto guy. He sounds very exciting.

One thing I do from time to time is look at club wikipedia pages and see all of their players, whose on loan, etc. Chelsea signing Garnacho made me do it for them...

    This is actually insane?

Related to that, though... all the big clubs in England have MUCH larger squads than like Barcelona and Madrid.

In all seriousness, if United fire Amorim… who is even available that takes the risk?

  14. Mainoo asked out. United will only loan him apparently.

It's the opposite. Mainoo has asked to leave on loan, United won't sanction a loan and no desire to see him leave.

The Woltemade deal is legit crazy talk! Bayern offering ~65 was already an overpay, but another 20 plus add ons in wild.

who knows? Maybe it works out for them, but I have a hard time thinking of another deal that feels this insane at the jump.

Xavi to Spurs is an annoyingly good signing.

Hot take - he'll have more G/A than Wirtz this season.

Am I right that we have a Swansea leaning fan in here?

For some reason they're paying us for Adam Idah and it might be our best transfer business all summer.

England squad debate is a meme at this point, but -

Rashford being in the squad is a joke.
