  1. I don’t even understand Arsenal’s logic. They backed off Eze because they wanted to prioritize a LW and considered Eze as a no10. Their backup striker gets injured. So they go back in for Eze?

Do I understand the logic here? No.

    Did I laugh heartily? Yes.

  3. I no longer feel bad for Palace getting bumped down to Conference League. And I hope they lose tomorrow.

You just knew it was going to happen

I don’t fault Palace. They were waiting for a replacement to get in, which sounds like it’s almost lined up. Just happened to have Arsenal get an injury to get them to jump back in. It sucks, but it is what it is. You should’ve expected this as a spurs fan lol

and if levy really wanted to get it done immediately, he could’ve offered more to hasten it, or he could’ve paid the release clause forever ago. Yes, Levy is going to get blame in this. We sat on our ass when Maddison got hurt. Havertz gets hurt and Arsenal immediately spring into action.

Wasn't there some extra drama being caused by Gyokeres' agent as well?

I think the situation is pretty much irrecoverable at this point. He's made it clear he has no intention to ever play for us again. Can't say that a few goals wouldn't soften up the crowd, but what state will he even be in, given he's had no preseason?

I think quite a few people will have no sympathy for him, but it suggests the organisation at Newcastle in general hasn't been all that great this summer.

Speaking of, we've had an improved offer for Wissa rejected. Keeps on giving.

Easier add ons and better payment terms. So yeah. Levy is at fault.

Yeah, someone got shot in Stockholm over it because his agent waved his fee to get it done and his (and Isak’s) agent has big ties to organised crime in Sweden.

Tbf Brentford need to keep Wissa or they’re 100% going down I think. I’d maybe submit a bid for Matthis Abline from Nantes as a backup. Really good forward who would probably go for half that and would suit your style.

  8. Sure he gets some blame. But it sounds like the two clubs basically had an agreement in place. Eze and Spurs had an agreement in place. Palace delayed and delayed, whether for good reason or not. And that delaying has bitten us. Arsenal get to swoop in knowing what we’ve negotiated and place slightly better bid because we’ve done all the work in the deal.

My suspicion is that Trossard is moving back to being our backup nine, and Eze will play AM & LW. I kind of think Martinelli might be good up top too.

Again. There was a release clause. We could’ve met that months ago and moved on. By waiting and nickel and diming, we gave other teams an advantage to jump in. And that falls on management. It didn’t have to be delayed this long. We had all summer.

I’m annoyed and frustrated. This shit happens too often for Levy to keep saying “well we tried”

Savinho probably isn’t happening either, so we’re back to square one, with even less time to the deadline and limited options, and now teams know we’re desperate.

Funnily enough, Gunnerblog (tier 1 for us) suggested this on the ArseCast. That we might be being “informed” on the deal just in case we needed to swoop in. Crazy that it turns out to be true.

  12. No one went for that release clause though. It was clearly set up to be difficult to trigger. Levy sucks and I hate him as much as everyone else lol but what is he suppose to do if Palace want to wait until they have a replacement and they drag it out in the process?

This is what’s frustrating. no urgency. Ever.

the fact that this only ever happens this often to us. There’s a reason for that.

  14. ok but we started the process for him pretty quickly after the Maddison injury. And the other club is who dragged it out for the most part.

With the arrival of Gyökeres and Eze, the set piece situation at Arsenal becomes a clusterfuck. Not helpful when they've got Leeds on Saturday.

I’m frustrated. I know I’m not being completely fair, but I’m just tired of this comical shit only happening to us. MGW and this in the same window sucks

Looks like Havertz injury might not as bad as feared. Still probably a couple of months, but not ACL as suspected. Still really gutted for him given how great he was looking.

  19. The frustrating thing to me is that this is the first summer where I felt like Levy has been willing to spend. And it hasn’t mattered lol like we triggered the MGW clause only to have Forest sabotage the deal. We seemingly had an agreement for Eze, only for Palace to drag it out allowing another club to come in. We go for Savinho who wants the move but an exec in the club decides to step in and stop it. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Christ. I didn't realise it was that serious. Isn't football lovely...

I really hope we have some other irons in the fire (hopefully someone from outside the PL), because I can't see us being able to make the necessary moves otherwise.

Normally I don't get at all invested in transfer stuff, but this window has been the absolute drizzling shits.

  23. Hopefully we have some other good players in mind. This sucks but it doesn’t have to ruin the window. Still plenty of players out there that can improve the squad.
