    Will Arsenal finally land Vardy?

That’s basically a killer blow. We now have Jesus and Havertz on big wages, both out with long-term knee injuries. Absolutely going to be a cheap, underwhelming replacement, whoever it is. Gutting. Particularly as Kai looked electric in preseason.

Triple blow? What if Gyökeres still can't cross a ball when he's really relied upon.

Be twice the ocean. Be twice the land.

Grey linings: maybe the money we could have spent on Eze can now go on the new striker :upside:

    Is Giroud still around?

Moved to Lille this summer. Still got a sublime technical level based on his goal v West Ham in pre-season.

  11. Juventus want to sell Vlahovic so I could see him being an option.

  12. I’m obviously stoked that Eze is on the way to Spurs.

But Palace replacing him with El Khannous for half the price is great business. Also seeing they might go for Dibbling as well.

Well done, City. Convinced they've avoided another Palmer-esque decision here. He's not complete yet, but his performance v Wolves was great.

I guess Mateta would probably be mad pricey, too.

Arsenal, United have a young Danish go-getter that would be perfect for you in this trying time. Available now for a low, low price.

  17. Palace behaving strange imo. It’s clear that Eze will be leaving. They’re insisting he continues to play until the deal is finalized (which appears to hinge on them finalizing El Khannouss). And I kinda get this approach, but also…isn’t it a little risky for everyone involved? If Eze is injured, it hurts Palace just as much as it hurts Spurs. Dragging this out when everyone knows the inevitable is very annoying.

It only hurts them if they don’t view him getting injured and having to stay as a win.

  19. I don’t see how it’d be a win though. You likely frustrate the player by having the deal fall apart due to an injury, you don’t receive the money for purchasing his replacement, so you still have a gap in your squad, you’re paying his wages while he isn’t playing, and his value goes down resulting in less money received for him whenever you likely sell him next year.

Tbf to Palace, it's their first European game since 1998 tomorrow night. It's easier to forget when you support a "bigger" club just how important pieces of history like that are. Possibly because qualifying becomes a luxury.

  21. I get that too. But I don’t see them having trouble with this opponent with or without Eze.

Chances are he doesn’t get injured and everything works out fine. It’s just annoying, that’s all haha

I was trying to describe myself to someone

I can't find any of the original articles about the offer Liverpool made, but the number being quoted now is £110m. I'm sure it was structured such that we'd see a lot less than that this summer, which is obviously a big pain in the arse with PSR and a big striker shaped hole. I was sure the headline number initially was £90m and there might have been instalments over a few years too.

The two statements last night aren't helping anyone. This whole "promise" thing just feels like an extremely vague excuse. Given that the suggestion is that whatever that discussion was took place quite some time ago (not sure if it was implied as far back as last summer), I'm not sure what concrete guarantee anyone at Newcastle could have sensibly offered.

Given that our sporting director left right before the transfer window began, I wouldn't be shocked if something offered got messed up by a change of personnel, but it's not like we haven't actively been trying to get some strikers in (which would imply we expected to let him leave).

The game at the weekend is going to be very bad tempered.

yeah, tbf I think I saw 70 + 50 mentioned at some point, so that makes sense.

If it was a promise by your old SD, then it's the same situation as Gyokeres, who was apparently promised a transfer for a certain amount by someone who had since left the club. Just a messy situation.

If he stays, will the fans get behind him or are the bridges fully burnt?

  24. lmao of course

  25. People will blame Levy, and it could be on him, but Palace dragging their feet for him to play in this European game is the reason it hasn’t happened for us. And now it probably won’t at all. It’s all so dumb.
