Tbh, I’ve never really “got” the hype. He’s okay, but if you can get a half decent price for him, I’d say it’s not terrible.
I think he has a lot of potential but we just stunted his development. We brought in too many young players at once, had an injury crisis, and ended up with a weak inexperienced squad. Now we have to bring in new starters and it’s going to squeeze out the young talent we’ve invested in.
Right, I get the arguments over Vuskovic and Bergvall's potential, but is anyone else struggling with the mental gymnastics of clubs wanting to sign prospects from a club that has just finished 17th? lol Do they all use the same database?
It just says to me that RDZ has insisted he doesn’t want prospects, he wants players who are ready now. And so the “prospects” are going elsewhere.
The Vuskovic stuff is interesting because it’s not like clubs are lining up for him. It makes me think some of the drama is wound up by the people around him. Basically since January all we heard was how all the top top clubs were after him. We get to window and it’s a 35m offer from Brighton and seemingly nothing else. But I’m guessing it’s because all those top clubs know Vuskovic wants guaranteed minutes and they, like Spurs, aren’t ready to offer him that. With Bergvall, we kinda hijacked that deal from Barca. Which was crazy at the time. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up in Spain tho. I think that’s a good fit for him.
I get that they're going elsewhere, I just think a lot of clubs are singing from the same hymn sheet and there's some 'we liked Bergvall when he was at Djurgarden" going on. They don't want him because he's proved himself yet?
I think it’s a lot of this but also that we were just nearly relegated and have to really make some big changes. Not saying the spending spree coming is fool-proof, but we absolutely have to strengthen the starting XI.
Still funny to me that I spent two years saying you should get Frank, and how good he’d be at the job, and then you get him and he almost relegates you lol
I actually saw some pre-season footage of Spurs, Frank's first day, and it looked like he knew what he was doing lol Heavily edited?
He actually seemed fined in the pre-season. But the second things got a little difficult (happens regularly with us) he caved.
RDZ left Brighton exactly over Brighton’s refusal to sign primarily 24-27 year olds who instead of 18-21 year old dev projects.
This is something that does worry me a little bit with him. But at the same time, I get his perspective on it. A lot of these clubs will fire you season one if the results aren’t there. So why would the manager want a bunch of super young guys kind of thing. But I hope it isn’t just a matter of us completely ignoring the project players. Sprinkle some of those guys in when the timing is right.
@LongThroes how did your Mexican cooking experiment go? I’m out at my local place and remembered, haha.
We decided to hold off for a week until the house move is done, just to prevent unnecessary cleaning and chaos lol. But really looking forward to it for sure.
I was never fully convinced it was going to happen but the Tonali stuff has gone mostly quiet and there is a new name linked to us everyday. It’s not happening.
United secures land for new 100,000-seater stadium | Manchester United United have finally bought the plot of land for their new circus ten...stadium.
Incredibly jealous of non London clubs (or those not as centrally located) who can just do this. Arsenal are trying to expand the stadium to 80k and it’s almost impossible without being forced to pay for the underground stations nearby to be renovated, buying massively inflated land or taking the entire roof off.
