FIFA has also done a “really good job” of letting the impression that these prices are because the US set them, not them, permeate. Even when these prices are reflected in Mexico and Canada host cities, too. We’re the villain when our fans are also victims in this sense.
I like Johnson. I’d be kinda sad to see him go tbh. But I also think it’d make sense. We want to bring in another winger. Someone has to go. I’d say Johnson or Odobert are the candidates for that. Tel has been quietly solid and still very young. I think it’d be dumb to let him go now. Kulusevski is back soon. So the RW spot will likely be a rotation of Kudus and Kulusevski. The club wants to sign a new starting LW. Tel, Kolo Muani, Xavi can all play LW as well. And it’s not Johnson’s stronger side. So yeah, I guess he could just be squeezed out.
Kinda wild that United still don't know whether 3 of their key players will be available for the game on Monday due to AFCON uncertainties. Bit of a shambles really.
I'm looking at this two ways. a) it's a good career decision by him to go and test himself in a competitive league on his own b) the caveat being does he preempt his (and Frank's) job safety? I mean, he's seen Ange get sacked already. Maybe he wants out whilst his stock is high.
Normally, yes, but FIFA have made it so foreign fans going through their FAs have to buy tickets for ALL their nation’s matches. Then you get tickets refunded for games after you get knocked out. Which given that it will cost about £6k for all the tickets without travel costs and hotels will severely limit who can go.
Going to tomorrow’s game against Wolves. Seemed ideal when I got my ticket, but now that we’re missing Calafiori, Gabriel, Saliba, and Timber (our entire defence) plus Mosquera, I’m a little worried.
The FIFA world cup prices are insane and the FIFA president is so cozy with Trump as he's a wildcard and he doesn't want Trump derailing this whole thing. This is pure American greed on display and it sucks. As far as I can tell you can only sign up for 1 game so I did category 2 for Boston for England / Ghana as I'll have family to stay with. I also had a friend and my wife sign up for the round of 32 game in Atlanta as that's likely to be England's progression. I know it's assuming a lot but if they win their group, that's the path. Hotels are INSANE (as I'm sure you all know) so plan that out for anyone wanting to travel. Red roof ins near metlife stadium for example start at $600 / night and a hampton Inn was well over $1,000. Atlanta hotels are over a $1k for the night of the round of 32 knock out with some condo VRBO deals going for $1-2k / night. It's all mad.
I’ve got friends out in Madison and will 100% stay there and ride in on MARTA for any match I end up buying resale for. I’m waiting for the market to crash, ngl. Fully convinced bots got most of these ridiculous tickets.
And if Americans and Europeans are struggling with the price of going, how on earth are fans of teams like Ghana, Cape Verde, and Jordan meant to attend?
I will say, the more of a fuss that Egypt and Iran throw about this pride match, the more I hope Seattle goes full Portland with it.
Big run for Brighton here that could see us fall down the table. @ Liverpool Home to sunderland @ Arsenal @ west ham Home to Burnley @ Man city @ man united in the FA cup were down to 1 striker (Danny welbeck) and a load of No. 10s. I think we’ll actually add to the squad in January, could be bringing back either Ferguson from Roma or something.
As someone who has never had a ton of interest in the premier league but decided they are a Brighton fan because seagulls are cool, what do I need to know about the club in order to not be a total idiot?
Brighton were bought by a local professional gambler (currently under investigation for betting potentially on Brighton). Tactical identity is that we run around as hard as possible all the time. Lots of young talent, young coach, selling club. Not in danger of going down to the championship. The club is transitioning from establishing as a top ten club to being one of the non big 6 to push for consistent European places, same as crystal palace, Bournemouth, an Aston villa, really. the purple is our alt, normally blue and white with stripes.
Prospect team that plays fast? Fandom solidified. I do like the coach and his efforts getting st Pauli to the top.
The fanbase kinda hates the coach lol. I am fine with him but the fans complain about him a lot. At best he is still in wait and see mode with most of the fan base. But yeah, fun team to watch and follow! I asked for team recommendations in like 2020 and the thread pointed me towards Brighton (or Leeds at the time lol) so welcome
