MLS Cup Final is this weekend. Messi v Muller. There’s been zero promotion for it. Most people probably don’t even know it’s happening. MLS really screwed themselves taking the Apple deal. Behind a paywall and barely any coverage of the sport on other networks. And the game is at 2:30 on Saturday. A weird time and right in the middle of a huge college football slate. The numbers will be atrocious. And on top of all that…they’ve bent the rules and have given Miami so much favorable treatment that the biggest star on the planet, Messi, is a villain and no one outside of Miami fans are rooting for him. If he wins they won’t even really get to capitalize on it because everyone will be mad lol
Them taking it out from behind the paywall was such an easy layup for next season following the WC boost. I’m surprised they even did it. why tf would they schedule the first half during the one game that matters (BYU/TTU) and the second half during Bama/Georgia? Surely one person on their team was like “perhaps we should move to Sunday?”
Interesting RE only Miam fans giving a shit about Messi these days. I wonder if the opinion shifts for his "last ever World Cup" in the summer?
Severely limiting how much teams can spend, product behind paywall, almost zero promotion of product outside of paywall, scheduling the playoffs to coincide with an international break, and showing no concern over having your biggest game at the same time as other major sports events. Great way to a run league lol
Bruno Fernandes being benched STINGS. Didn't take the vice captaincy seriously enough because he's usually so reliable. Less learned rage sold lol
if the club sticks by Amorim and he ends up coming good à la Arteta at Arsenal I will have major crow to eat not sure what else we need to prove he’s not the guy
100% with you. I just don't know what else the higher ups need to see. He's shown a full season of negative, what positive could possibly happen that outweighs what has been shown? Any positive he shows is one step forward, two steps back by the next match. The Arteta thing that some argue is also slightly disingenuous - his lows were now where near as low, and Amorim has shown no where near the amount of progression or reason to back as Arteta did during his early period.
What’s up with Mainoo? Spurs wanted him in the summer. United didn’t want to sell. And now he barely plays.
Being generous, he suits a midfield 3 better than the 2 we play. He's not massively mobile or physical, doesn't have huge long range passing range. So not massively suited to the 'system'. But main thing is Amorim just so clearly doesn't rate him at all. He's not been good when played this year, but difficult to just turn it on when playing 5 minutes a month.
The two things that would be setting off alarm bells if I was on the United board would be his total lack of tactical flexibility, and his media personality. People forget that in Arteta’s first season he abandoned his principles and won the FA Cup by playing a counter attacking 5-4-1 because we just didn’t have the players to play how he wanted. Amorim would rather play players out of position, which is obviously his decision but it won’t buy you the time Mikel got. Also my god, he’s so depressing to listen to. I don’t remember Mikel ever being like that. He’s intense and weird, sure, but he never ever doubted his own position and he certainly didn’t say he hated his players and kids lol.
God, it's just so clearly he hates the kid. For the love of god, sack the man before we're left with more shit investments in January that don't fit the system of whatever polar opposite we get in when we inevitably do sack him later in the year.
