Schmeichel losing to Liam Scales would really put the cherry on top for Kasper's retirement.

Northern Ireland also in the playoffs! Let’s get them all there!

Is a Northern Ireland-Ireland playoff possible

It's possible but unlikely. They'd need to be drawn together in the same grouping and both beat their higher seed Pot.

For Northern Ireland that's beating one of Italy, Denmark, Turkey and Ukraine. Ireland would have to beat Wales, Poland, Czechia or Slovakia

One of those random things about UT’s research side is we have one of the premiere turf and grass research faculty in the world. I think they did the Tottenham stadium? Thought this was a neat look into the side of the sport we probably never think about.

Happy for our American natives, but just goes to show Suarez, Cavani and Godin did some LIFTING.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

It's worth remembering that Uruguay is a tiny place. Population is similar to that of Wales. The fact that they've been perennially difficult bastards in the international game is remarkable. That they were able to field Suarez, Forlan and Cavani together at one point was incredible, really.

I live in Scotland and our team meeting in work this morning rightly included 8 minutes of the highlights of last night's game.

I mean if they can say it after beating Andorra to qualify surely we can!

    Fantastic!

22 members of their current squad were born in the Netherlands, though, so it's going to be like taking on a smaller Eredivisie side as opposed to a team of Caribbean fishermen or whatever. Not critising, just saying it as a word of warning to their opponents!

And that they have finished above Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica should factor into that warning.

There’s probably a lot to be said about CONCACAF qualifying when you remove the US and Mexico from the process. It’ll be interesting to see in 2030 if any teams you’d not expect squeak through with them back in the mix.

How dare you mock the might Andorra!

Besides, you have to be the home of football for it to count, i’m afraid. Sadly, we would lend you it but Trump would only send it home again :/

Obviously it’s a bit mad to take the three best teams out of CONCACAF, but we’re getting some really cool nations qualifying because of it. Who doesn’t want Curacao to qualify?! It’s very cool.

  18. I think Spurs made it through the break without injury. It’s a miracle.

Did anyone go down for Arsenal? Only asking because NLD is this weekend.

Gabriel got s major injury, out for possibly two months. Calafiori also got an injury but more minor. Think Havertz suffered a setback and Gyokeres will probably be out too. Not sure Martinelli will be back either, and Jesus is seemingly injured forever.

We’re in real trouble given this week is Spurs, Bayern, and Chelsea lmao

Is it just me or is there a sports-wide injury crisis going on? In no way do I have any facts to support this but going on vibes… folks are just hurt
