ah ok. That sounds nice. I thought you were talking exclusively about the timing of games in your initial comment. I have access to something like that here in US via Peacock. They have “multi-view” and “goal zone” options available for EPL when games are going on simultaneously. Goal zone is like Red Zone and multi-view is all games on one screen with audio only provided for one but you can switch around easily. It’s overwhelming in my opinion but I can see the upside for other types of viewers.
A little bit of both! The death of the Saturday 3pm is more of a concern as a match going fan, as @MrCon touched on. Imagine travelling to London on Saturday night for an 8pm kick-off like Wolves fans just had to, for example. All because broadcasters think it's what people want to talk about. I'm aware of those Peacock services, I've used Goal Zone before. That said, look at this Saturday just gone: it was literally Everton v Fulham and West Ham v Burnley at 3pm. Turns out the broadcasters are shooting each other in the foot haha
Turkey FA suspends 1,024 players in betting investigation Update from Turkey RE: betting scandal. 1,024 players suspended, 27 from the top flight.
I’ve seen those links Stateside too. Has probably been a top-5 MLS coach over the last few seasons but that leap to Europe would be tough, I bet. Columbus arguably could have repeated if they had not sold Cucho Hernandez to Betis. With a decent squad that can press and posses the ball, he might be a decent fit.
Would be nice to see a man with Caribbean/African roots managing Celtic. Would be a pioneering move for the club imo. Fun fact: Celtic's first black player was Gil Scott-Heron's father.
Oh, nice. This guy discovered Kvara, Kim Min-Jae, Hamsik, etc. Arsenal in advanced talks with Napoli over appointing head of scouting Maurizio Micheli
Man, you're just going to keep on getting better. Whoever discovered Saliba and Gabriel in 2019/20 was doing a good enough job! Obviously you've got the "proven" Premier League buys like Rice and Raya, too.
We’ve definitely bought really well. And some of our best players have been absolute bargains. In particular, Trossard for £24m, Odegaard for £30m, and Gabriel for £26m were all unbelievable bits of business. But we also spent a combined £50m on Fabio Viera, Sambi Lakonga, and Nuno Tavares lol. You win some, you lose some, I guess.
This rings true for most clubs, if not all. Most clubs have fan bases that have this discussion, too. Rinse, repeat lol
I read that he really cares about ball retention and I think we, as a support, would find it hard to get on board with that after the snore-fest we've seen from Rodgers this season. Not that we'll ever be long ball direct but some sort of move the ball quick and direct would suit us. I don't personally know if he's the right profile to manage us but I'd prefer to see those links than hear the same old rubbish again and again. It doesn't look like Knutsen from Bodo is interested in coming anyway and it has went quiet on Kieran McKenna.
I think that would be a proper proper signing. But i don't know. A lot of teams will be interested in him, we need a good season and end on a good note to convince him I think. Mbeumo though, man changed my life. He's so fucking good even when he's not scoring. His movement is so smart. One of those players with as few wasted motions as possible.
If United get Champions League football then there's not many clubs I'd say you would have to compete with? England is the place to be when you really think about it. I can't see the Spanish giants being interested, nor Bayern or PSG. My post in this thread (that I can't find for the record) was cautious about Mbeumo not being able to cope with the pressure of being at a bigger club. So far he's made a mockery of my doubts. I love his reliability as a fan of the game in general - he literally missed 3 minutes in the league last season when subbed off v Fulham for Ben fucking Mee when losing. All I ask for is him to go easy v us!
Us making CL is still a tall task. Depending on other teams to stay at this level. Defensively we just aren't there yet. Giving up too many good chances, we tend to drop back and cede territory when we go up.
Oscar (ex-Chelsea) in a stable condition in hospital after his heart stopped for 2 minutes after an exercise session. Frightening stuff. Stay safe out there, folks.
Ah dang, I was hoping he’d be ready for the game against Derby at the end of the month. Derby just bought our star striker in the summer. Would’ve been cool to see two Charlotte guys face each other on their new squads.
A guy emailed into the Ramble today to say he’s playing against them this weekend. “Hopefully I can report back on Monday and say we limited Cisse to just a single second half hat-trick.”
If limiting him to acute "impossible" angles outside the area didn't work... @ghostyouare would understand.
This really makes sense logistically and I get why people want it. I’m just torn. Some of these cities are BRUTAL in the winter. Just wonder if the teams up north will struggle to convince players to sign because of that.
Salt Lake, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Chicago, Columbus, Cincinnati, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, New York City (x2), Philadelphia, DC, Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland... most of those places in February may be way worse overall than Miami, Orlando, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, and Charlotte in July and August. (I know some of these are in domes, just speaking in generals.)
Great timing with this coming days after the Canadian premier league final was played in a fucking blizzard lol. MLS wants that weather for, like, the 3rd game of the season???
