WC 2026 updates from this week:

The quarterfinal not listed in the picture is in Miami. Not gonna type up all the R32 and R16 locations.

It’s pretty shitty that the USMNT are playing the three group stage matches all on the West Coast, in LA (June 12), Seattle (June 19), and then back in LA (June 25). Pretty much guarantees I, and most of us on the East Coast, won't get to even make an attempt to be at a home game.

Mexico opens the tournament in Mexico City (June 11), goes to Guadalajara (June 18), then back to Mexico City (June 24).

Canada opens in Toronto (June 12), then has back-to-back in Vancouver (June 18, June 24).

I believe that'll make Mexico Group A, Canada Group B, and the US Group C, but that's just a guess.

Gonna try to get tickets to the semifinal in Atlanta, as well as whatever I can get from Atlanta's 7 other matches. Depending on how they do tickets, might as well throw my name in for the final and see what happens.

I just find Maupay amusing. Players like him are pure entertainment. Everyone gets so wound up over him but I love a shit house player.

The lack of any match sites in the interior of the USA is really striking when put into map format. Philly being the closet match site for where I am it is nuts to me. Feel like one of the Boston/NJNYC/Philly sites should have been flipped for a more central USA site. Would kind of give each geographic zone two match sites.

Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis definitely feel like a gap.

Almost as if Colorado-California could host a WC; the midwest including texas could and then the east coast could....

Perfect summation of why online fan/pundits are bad, and embarrassing and reactionary, (and also hilarious)

Agreed, the only issue I know with Detroit is that you have no outdoor venue that can accommodate it. Ford Field is indoors, and then the only place close that could do it would be The Big House but then you run into all sorts of issues from the seats there being the old school benches to the pitch size being really cramped along with any hospitality issues which is exacerbated more than a college football game because you would have more people coming in from out of state needing lodging.

Holy shit, what an insane final few minutes of normal time in this AFCON semi final

Nigeria are 1-0 up through a penalty and defending, when they break away and score a second in the 90th minute. Only, it then gets pulled back for a South African penalty just beforehand. RSA score and it's now going to extra time.

And South Africa missed an almost open goal in the 5th minute of added time!

Looks like both Villa and Chelsea forgot how they retrospectively played at the weekend. Its been a complete role reversal so far.

I mean, the referees struggle to get it right already. I like the idea but I fear it’s just another thing they can get wrong.

You’ll have one team shouting, kicking, and screaming at the ref for an hour and the opposition does it once and straight to the bin. They already can’t be consistent in booking dissent adding a sin bin is a disaster.

With respect to our Irish members here, this is quite a favourable draw

  21. This morning Ange said the only players not available this weekend are Solomon and Sessegnon.

Son and Biss ready to start.

It’s been so long since we’ve had a mostly full squad. Excited to see how we look tomorrow. But also expecting it to take a couple games for things to gel like they were before the injuries.

Between these, I’m convinced Liverpool are doing a bit where they have to become the most embarrassing club in the world.

Why are Liverpool so self righteous? It's by far their most annoying thing (and I generally quite like the club lol)
