  1. The whole Newcastle Liverpool Isak Ekitike situation is going to be interesting to watch play out.

Jhon Duran has already had a bust-up with Mourinho after failing to turn up to training. Drama!

  3. I go through the stages of grief every season and the timeline is just insane, haha. They finish two points away from cup qualification in 2008, Venky's buys them in 2010, they are relegated in 2012; and it's just been literal dog shit ever since. The owners claim every season that they are committed to the club. The company is worth upwards of £22 billion and the corporation that specifically owns the club is close to £2 billion. They are definitely top five richest clubs in the Championship, yet their wages consistently fall in the 14-17 range in terms of spending. You can't say you are committed to being promoted and spend that way.

It's just been a revolving door of coaches and front office staff. Their player development has been top notch for years before Venky's even got there. They consistently turn profits on academy players and then don't do anything with it. I pray every season there's some sort of takeover from a US ownership group or something. It's just embarrassing and really disheartening to see a club with their history toiling away every season and the owners are just content with mediocrity.

Some interesting suggestions from the PL meeting with IFAB on potential referee or rules changes.

    1. They PL want to trial referee cameras. The footage would be available for broadcast and reviews.

    2. Refs might be able to review second yellows via VAR

    3. Penalty takers not allowed to touch the ball next if it’s saved, it would be treated the same as if they hit the post/crossbar.

Just so we're all aware, this sort of thing can happen right on YOUR doorstep. Not just in Spain, Eastern Europe, etc. This video feels like a very empowering moment.

Everton signing Douglas Luiz on a low-risk loan if rumours circulating are true. We've beaten West Ham, too. Small victory for Moyes.

    1. I don't really care.

    2. This opens up the debate of why the second yellow can be reviewed, but the first one cannot. Would be another one of the many inconsistencies the introduction of VAR created.

    3. Don't like it. The football rules in their core are very simple and consistent. A penalty is basically treated the same as a direct free kick. On a free kick, the taker cannot touch the ball again unless another player touched it. Same with the penalty. If you want to stay consistent you would need to change the rule for free kicks, too. That means the kicker cannot touch the ball unless one of their teammates has touched it. And that would be ridiculous.

    RE: 2nd yellow VAR
I feel like it would only work if there was an intermediary card. Something along the lines of a blue card being an option once a yellow is given in the same match. Essentially allowing VAR to be like yeah maybe together these two fouls are harsh for a sending off but they still count towards season accumulations.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

When you put it like that, it really makes you wonder why they're still there themselves. What's the benefit to a business of that size (who aren't really a consumer brand anyway) owning a struggling Championship team? At least when Ashley was crushing the life out of Newcastle, it was obvious the benefit he was getting.

Yeah, also the second booking might be legit while the first was horseshit. I remember Tomiyasu got sent off for two incredibly dubious yellow cards against Palace, but it was the first one that was absolute bollocks, the second was just a light foul. So you’d just be creating a situation where every card has to be reviewed and that would take ages given how slow they are.

The cynic in me says this is where the owners want to sport to be driven. Long, drawn out matches akin to NFL. Lots of time for sponsors to make bank. The concept terrifies me.

Wissa to Newcastle is a smart alternative to Ekitike, but if he's the Isak replacement then I think the Geordies will riot.

God I hope Wissa to Newcastle finally convinces United to pull out of the Mbeumo deal. Been clear for a while that he's out of our budget, and personally it's not necessary for a second 10 signing. Take the budget and spend on a GK (not Martinez, please god) and CM rotation.

Definitely trusting Ornstein over Crook. Talksport gets mocked over here - Talkshite, etc.

  17. Tbf all Ornstein said was the Newcastle are interested in him. No talks have taken place with club or player based off his tweet.

Not like Ornstein to even comment unless he knows something more, though.

  19. True. And even is Wissa does prefer a reunion with Frank, doesn’t mean it happens.

julio enciso was for sure moving away from Brighton this window and he just hurt his knee and is out 3 months meaning he’s here until January again. I feel bad for him, I like him a lot (despite all his flaws).

Arsenal are missing a trick if their media team doesn’t announce him with a nod to Ian Wright.

  25. I love it for United. I’m sure their fans are scarred from the recent business done by United, but I think adding two PL-proven players like Cunha and Mbeumo is worth the money. They should improve their attack by a lot. And it could end up reviving the form of Zirkzee and/or Hojlund. Two young strikers coming into the PL on a team with poor wing play is tough, no? Give them some better support and I bet they start delivering.
