You can ask that about quite a few teams.

My favourite being the inclusion of a third US team (Seattle Sounders) to replace Leon, when Inter Miami had already been included for basically no sporting reason. To take this thing seriously, they really need to be a lot more transparent about how teams get picked for this, because it looks like teams are chosen more than qualified right now.

But in my mind I find

You mean to say giving Messi another chance on a "global" platform isn’t a sporting reason?!?

So spot on about Miami but it was LAFC who replaced Leon and it wasn't a guarantee as they played a qualifying match against Club America and won.
Sounders qualified after winning the CONCACAF champions cup in 2022?

Either way, unless you’re digging through FIFA’s website and catching updates there, usually it’s difficult to catch qualifying explanations elsewhere.

  8. This is the most obvious move ever and I’ve been expecting it. I think it’ll eventually get done. Spence and KWP are both capable of covering either side and would give us some solid depth (I think Spence is a starter on a lot of teams in Europe).

Just saw that Stuttgart are offering Woltemade £37k per week to get him to stay.

Christ, the disparity in wages between PL and Bundi is colossal.

  14. If we’re spending 70m on a player, I think there is better value out there than Semenyo.

Take that 70m to use towards Simons

If Semenyo was ~£50-55m, I’d want us to get him, but £70m is mad money.

Yeah I love Semenyo for like 50m but 70m is a step too far

4 postponed CWC games so far. Hopefully that doesn't carry on over to the World Cup. Would be a shambles...

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Ah, my bad. My grumpiness was more that there were only meant to be 2 teams from any given nation and given the US already included one BS one, adding in another seemed questionable. I'd forgotten they played a play off for it too. Not trying to diminish Sounders more obviously earning a spot!

Benfica only being 1-0 up at HT against an amateur team, via a penalty, is mad. Are Portuguese teams just not giving a shit, or are they just insanely bad?

But in my mind I find

My theory is years of selling all their talent has finally caught up with the Portuguese clubs. Moreover, if you look at the relaxed work permit laws, Portugal is no longer a haven for these South American lads. They can go straight to Chelsea now if they want, on 10 year contracts. Perhaps I'm wrong but yeah.
