Honestly though that’s very embarrassing for Sancho

Genuinely absolutely hilarious that they've paid to not have to deal with him. Joke of a player.

Betis not keeping Antony. Chelsea not keeping Sancho. Villa not keeping Rashford. Kinda wild to see all three happen at once.

Only Sancho to Chelsea was really realistic. Betis and Villa can’t afford the other two

Chelsea beating Betis in the final and pipping Villa to the CL spot definitely ended any chance of those teams affording those players as well so that’s fun

But in my mind I find

I'm pretty sure Rashford said he wouldn't be moving to Villa permanently from the get go?

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Anthony is the only one of those three who has realistically done enough to tempt someone to pay out, but given that United overpaid so badly, they'd still have to take a huge loss to send him on his way for his actual value now.

Suspect all three need to seriously rethink their wage demands too. The idea that Rashford or Sancho genuinely think they're playing like players who should be paid what they earn is laughable. You don't deserve to be paid what you were offered at your best, when nobody has seen it for 2 years.

Respect to Fernandes for saying no to those obscene wages. I saw something saying like he was concerned it wouldn’t be right for his family.

I wonder who United will have to sell instead to fund further transfers then. They don’t have a whole lot of easily sellable assets it seems?

You have to say, it’s wild to watch United make what appears to be good signings.

  12. I guess I just don’t understand how any of the PSR stuff works. I feel like we saw so many stories about United’s debt and them laying off workers because of the debt. Penny pinching everywhere. But then in the first days of the window they spend 100m. And I’m assuming they convinced these players to sign with massive wages. So it just doesn’t make sense to me. But I’m ignorant on how it all works. So. I don’t know. lol.

I promise you it’s not massive wages, they’ll both be getting an upgrade on what they’re making now, but United have worked hard to pinch pennies and make huge cuts to their larger operating costs for the specific reason of being able to spend 100m in the first place. Cunha and Mbeumo will cover the entirety of the pre sales summer budget, everything else will be dependent on who they can shift on.

Garnacho, Sancho, Antony and Rashford will be sold. We will be getting some money for Alvaro Carreras to Madrid too. 20%-50% sell on depending on who you believe

I think 35m gives a PSR profit on him.

Regarding that rumoured Qatari interest in Spurs, @Swoos , isn't there a fairly obvious issue getting in the way of that happening?

The problem is that I don’t see you getting much for them. In some cases, it’s because of their wage demands, and in others I think they’re damaged goods in the PL market.

Weirdly, Anthony is the most easily sellable one of them lol.

But in my mind I find

No, the Jewish connection Spurs have.

  20. Oh, yeah. Tbh I don’t know much about that part of the club’s history. But yes, definitely seems problematic.

I don’t think we need much PSR wise. Antony 35, Sancho like 15m, Garnacho and Rashford are both pure profit sales. Nacho and Rashford supposedly on the market for 40m each, that plus Antony and Sancho at or around their book values would give us about 200m PSR room having gone into the window with 125m budget and room.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

I maybe just don't understand PSR maths, but if you paid 95m euros for Anthony and sold him for £35m, how the hell is that PSR profit? Is this all to do with the magic of amortisation and since he's been there since 2022, you can ignore some of the original transfer fee and his wages?

I think that's essentially it. Initial fee ÷ total years on contract X remaining years on contract, is the maths.

Antony also isn't on huge wages. One of the rare decent decisions United have made contract wise. Think it's like £120k a week, obviously big but not "makes the asset unsellable" big ala Rashford and Sancho.

  24. Nick

    @fangclubb Prestigious

Yep that’s pretty much it. I may be getting the numbers/match slightly wrong, I’m not including wages or add ons because I genuinely don’t know them, but I think the basics are player costs are amortised over the length of the contract, or a limit of 5 years. So £82m / 5 means every year Antony’s worth to the club in PSR terms goes down £16.4m.

so if we sell him for more than 35m it’s an on books profit, lower than that it’ll be a loss. if he sticks around it’s a 35m “spend” in terms of PSR/FFP whatever. There’s more about wages etc. Rashford going will give us a massive PSR profit due to his very high wages
