Yamal’s agent wants his contract renewal to make him the highest paid player in the squad (currently FDJ or MatS, I believe). Which. I get. But maybe take that approach when the kid is turning 24 and not 18. If he keeps up this growth and production for a few more years, they’ll print money and get out of the financial problem in no time.

United are going to squad build for Amorim this summer, ditch wingers and full backs in favor of number 10s and wingbacks just to sack Amorim before Christmas in favor of someone who plays 433/4231.

With the amount of game time at such a young age, there’s no guarantee he is playing at this high of a level at 24. Get that bag as soon as possible, always imo. Especially someone who is also playing at an international level, too.

  7. This is the worry with sacking Ange. We’ve bought a lot of young players that were picked out by him for his system. And I love these young guys. A lot of potential in the squad. They just need time to develop. And bringing in a manager that didn’t recruit them and may not want them could be detrimental to their careers, not just the club.

Pickford in particular is going to get a battering in Newcastle on Sunday. In fact, I'd take him out of the bearpit scenerio if I was Moyes. It's unnecessary to put him through it.

The likes of Odobert, Bergvall, Gray are all young and versatile talents that should be able to play in most systems and are still in that age range to be molded however a coach sees fit and any coach brought in will be done so with the goal of building a team around them.

Much different situation in Manchester where we the plan this summer is to sell our wingers and bring in Cunha for a system that relies on two wingbacks and two 10s. You’ve backed yourself into a corner where you have to build a squad for a coach they plays a niche formation with specialist positions. What happens when you want to employ a 433 coach and you’ve got no fullbacks, wingers, or central midfielders because your squad is full of center backs, wingbacks, and 10s?

Apparently United have to pay Adidas £10m because they haven’t been in the CL for two years lol.

  16. It’ll probably end poorly, but I’ve ultimately landed on Ange needs to stay. Winning yesterday obviously helps me feel that way. But I think seeing/hearing how much the players adore him is a bigger reason. I know we’ve been putrid in league play, but I think there’s something to build in that squad. And they all heavily believe he’s the man for it.

I don’t know. I just think going nearly two decades not winning anything and then sacking the man who finally wins you something…while being universally loved by the squad…would be a bad idea/look. He may end up sacked halfway through next season and the players would probably understand. But doing it now may risk some rifts from players.

yeah, I think he’s got to stay to start. Him and the players clearly gave up in league play when the injuries hit and top 4 was clearly out of reach, and it was the right decision. Bring some more depth in, so he has a squad to actually rotate and see what can happen. He showed he can be pragmatic and changed his entire style of play for Europa.

Tbf if we ignore ones before 2000, those Atleti, Chelsea, Olympiacos, Villarreal and Sporting sides were miles better than anyone Spurs faced. So not sure that proves much.

Ultimately, that guy is just coping so I don’t think people should pay him any attention, but let’s not pretend like this season’s EL wasn’t dogshit in quality compared to the last decade or so.

Just hilarious how they want to diminish it already. Gotta move the goal posts somehow!

Twitter fans are dickheads, I dunno what anyone expects. I just don’t think that was a good defence (not that one is needed, really, you can only beat what is pit in front of you, and either way, who cares? You won a trophy)

the only thing worse than the quality of football on display during the finial is the constant Spurs discourse you involuntarily sign up for by being a member of this thread lol

The people I know IRL who follow football closely are all Spurs fans except 1 lone United fan. They all told me to pick a team other than United or spurs to follow lol.
