Mild pet peeve of mine - when did changing clubs start being referred to as an 'experience'? Everything these days is "so-and-so is ready for a new experience", "whatshisname wants the Rangers experience". I blame Fabrizio Romano.

(Realise this is all a bit games gone/ woke gone mad/ old man shouts at cloud).

Just saw a stat that after going up 2-0, Madrid went 23 entire minutes before completing a pass inside Barca’s half again.

I’d rather a play die at the hands on an incorrect offside call than a player get injured in a period of play that will get called back

  11. Spurs have 3 players who can play the 10 spot and it not be weird: Maddison, Kulu, and Bergvall. All 3 are going to miss the game next week. Wonderful.

Curious if we see a formation change to accommodate this. I’d love to see a 343 but might be crazy to do for the first time in a final haha

    Vicario
    Danso Romero VDV
    Porro Benny Biss Udogie
    Johnson Solanke Son

That probably works better than having a clunky midfield of Benny/Biss/Sarr.

One thing I love about Lamine Yamal is that he 100% acts like a teenager on Instagram. He shit talks and instigates like every single broccoli head who is high on himself has since the dawn of sports. The funny thing is he is like the sole exception to back it up.

Probably not a coincidence that they’ve announced today that Asencio will be prosecuted.

  16. First name I’m seeing in transfer rumors for Spurs is Rayan Cherki. I’m a fan and think he’s the type of winger we’ve been missing. And has a cheaper price tag. Makes a ton of sense. But I’m sure there will be competition.

I see some Liverpool fans clamor for Cherki, and while I get it in the sense that his technical ability is off the charts and the ball sticks to his foot like glue, I’ve read over and over that his work rate sucks, doesn’t press or track back, and so I simply cannot see it happening for us at least. The PL does not allow for passengers and Liverpool can only have one due to Szoboszlai carrying Salah’s water re: defensive duties.

but I’ve also literally never watched Cherki so maybe all the word of mouth concerns about his out of possession ability are no longer true or were overblown in the first place

Liverpool moving for Frimpong apparently, obviously Trent wasn’t much of a stay at home defensive fullback but i’m surprised to see Pool go after a wingback who is is more winger than fullback when they play a back 4.

I don’t think we’ve played a standard fullback in a long long time so I am not surprised. Peak Andy Robertson bombed forward, early Trent bombed forward, Conor Bradley bombs forward

Under Klopp, it was an industrial midfield that did the hard yards of covering for Robbo and Trent. Now, Gravenberch almost never gets forward, almost splitting the Konate-Virgil back line, so there’s still protection. And Mac Allister, despite not being gifted with insane recovery pace, reads the game so well and covers for Robertson really well

While I often think Trent’s defensive issues were a bit overblown, he clearly does not have the engine for tracking back even when he didn’t bomb forward as much the last couple of years. And with his lack of attentiveness to backpost balls, well, it’s hard to see someone else being much worse. The upside to Frimpong, like Conor Bradley, is rapid legs + the engine to get up and down. Half the battle is even being in the right place at the right time, which it seems like Frimpong can do

excited to see how it all looks tbh
