United/Spurs could pretty realistically come in 17th and make the Champions League. Meanwhile, Forest is out on GD with over 20 more points.

 

I think that says more about how poor the EL is now that CL teams don’t drop down. Rightly so, that was always just rewarding failure, but this season proves it has majorly affected the quality.

 

I get the complaint but winning Europa is a deserving way to qualify

 

European teams suit us tbf. We can handle them a lot better than the more physical, faster PL teams. We’ve also seemed to save all of our luck for Europe. We’ve been the kings of xG (obviously hyperbole but something like 1 goal in the last 3 games with 8 xG) in the league recently but unable to score, whereas in the EL we’re actually hitting the net. It’s crazy how much luck can play into it.

 

Spurs seem to play less risky in Europa. At least since the knockouts started. We give up far fewer goals and don’t look like a U14 team shape-wise. Then the weekend hits and we look drunk.

 

Plot twist: Forest get into the Champions League NEXT season through the Europa lol. I can see English teams dominating it for years due to all the quality being sucked out of it.
