I just want to be able to keep my current club and not have them sell out their beliefs and ethos to be able to enter the MLS. I enjoy that there still is the ability of the supporters to dictate certain elements of what the club is. That is totally lost if they go to MLS. I think that is my biggest issue with MLS is that the local feeling of those clubs is completely gone. Now to be fair, that is also happening to many of the big clubs in Europe right now so its not a guarantee that this type of open system is a block against the corporatization of a club.

  2. Yeah, you’d definitely lose some of the organic feeling and growth. And like you’ve kinda mentioned, a lot of that would be a result of just how corporatized everything we do in the States is. I think that, plus just the complete foreign concept of pro/rel to the majority of American sports fans are the two major things preventing it from happening. And I’m not sure how you fix both things.

As words, the statement seems strong. The actions won't follow though, it was their ultras that held that banner up.

FWIW I've not got an issue with Hojlund's celebration, it's more a dig at the people at the top.

The last time he scored that celebration was a topical Gladiator 2 reference

The policing of celebrations in sports is so frustrating. Let people celebrate something that is very, very rare in the grand scheme of things!

    hmmm

VAR is the ultimate celebration policing.

‘Were you just celebrating a 95th minute winner? Here's four minutes of shabby deliberation over an unclear foul ten seconds before the finish.’

Damn I missed a good convo about MLS/USL

I’ve heard some are viewing the USL move as a way to test if the market can handle pro/rel. and if footy fans in this country actually want it.

I’ve told people in my life that I think you can merge or set out to create two divisions by having the first relegation be determine over 2-4 years.
