Norman Foster says 5 years, which is half the expected timeline that was given last year.

Ratcliffe on timeline: 'We can build a stadium much more quickly. There are yards that build structures and are then shipped to locations around the world... The thing that allows us to do that is the Manchester Ship Canal. That halves the time.' #mufc

I've no idea how the club will actually pay for this, we have no money :verysad:

"One key point, and one of the reasons Man United have chosen to build a new stadium, is that there are no plans to play games at another venue. New stadium will be on the same site, but not the same footprint. United would continue to play at OT until the new stadium is ready." - Luckhurst.

Nice, that's what I thought it might be. Similar to Athletic Club. They built 3/4's of the new San Mames and continued to play at the old stadium. Once the 3/4's were done they moved into the new stadium while construction was finished.

OK, that's pretty cool. I've done some rambling around the Peak District in the past.

How common is this in Europe? In America no one builds a stadium that isn’t publicly funded by taxpayers (it’ll generate so much money and jobs! And never does to offset the burden on the taxpayers) so I was curious if that’s something new or standard over there

I believe taxpayers don't pay for any private club stadiums in the UK. except west ham's stadium, which was built for the Olympics. In Ireland, our national stadium was 40% funded by the government.

i don't actually know if taxpayers are paying for the surrounding area of the new stadium, but that's what I gleamed from Ratcliffe's talk yesterday, that they will be looking for money for the regeneration of the area.

Yeah, West Ham is the only one and that’s because it was originally the 2012 Olympic stadium.

Clubs have definitely tried to get taxpayer money for new stadiums, but it’s always shot down almost immediately as a poor use of public funds.

That would be nice, lol. Here the billionaires hold the teams hostage against the city and usually threaten to move the team if they can’t get the stadium funded by taxpayer dollars.

Am I correct in guessing that Stan Kroenke did this when he moved the Rams back to LA? Feels like a Stan move.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

    That is correct lol

it’s even worse too. St Louis offered to pay for a new stadium, but Stan threw a fit because he wouldn’t actually own it, and he already had land bought in LA to build a tax payer stadium on, which made him more money year round with events in LA and having the bigger market.

Hey now, you could always fund your own stadium and then be handed a points deduction for going £19m over in interest on loans for it.

So intrigued to see how empty The Emirates is tomorrow. Because it’s a CL knockout tie, they made it a category 1 game, meaning tickets are between £70-£120.

But, it’s basically a dead rubber as we’re 7-1 up, and it looks like there are TONS of tickets that haven’t been taken up on the exchange due to the price. Could be like half full lol.

And the Etihad. It was originally built for the Commonwealth games and is owned by Manchester City Council

Who knows what will happen, but the full interview is pretty unusual. You don’t often hear a player be so honest about what he wants. Give him the deal.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

I thought the netting for the new OT was to stop Dalot crosses from entering the carpark

An early PSG goal is exactly what the tie needed.
