Well now I’m sad. No upside for Bayern. Smh

Not sure who’s had a worse striker transfer window

feyenoord who sold Gimenez to their CL playoff opponent AC Milan

or us who sold Kyogo and didn’t replace him at all

Him having something to prove was actually the one thing that hindered his performance this season at Bayern I think. He did not get much game time, but when he did, it always seemed like he was over-zealous and that lead to sub-par decisions from him.
I still hope that the transfer works out for him, but I would have preferred a loan without an option.

if you look back, I feel like he did prove himself when he had consistent time and earned more. That’s why I feel like this season was so confusing that he was never given a chance and therefore started pressing.*

mixed reports saying that he has the choice to decline the buy option, which would make me feel better. He’s been adamant he wants to succeed at Bayern, so we’ll see.

*edit: his stats last season as an 18 year old compare favorably to Gnabry and Coman, for sure. That’s why I feel like he’s gotten shafted.

The disrespect towards Christian Streich... :eyebrow:
And depending on your definition of dynasty you could also argue about Frank Schmidt

I see your point and yes, it was a combination of multiple things. And it is not surprising that a very young player shows inconsistent performances.

I thought a loan without an option would have been the best scenario for him, preferably to a Bundesliga side that guarantees play time. But it seems like he himself wasn't really sure about what he wanted. First he wanted to go and then he wanted to stay and then on the last day he wanted a loan. But he is still so young so I can totally understand it is a tough decision at this point in his career.

  8. I read a few other people saying that this season he’s had limited opportunity and when he does play he’s pushing too hard and taking low chance shots etc.

So yeah, trying to prove himself has been a negative for him. But the context would still be a little different with Spurs. He’ll have more minutes and more opportunity which would hopefully make him play smarter and more patient compared to feeling like you have to score in this 10 min window so you play again next week.

He’s very good. I wouldn’t expect him to break into the first team any time soon though, he will be behind in training and conditioning. Pats were a bit of a disaster last year but they’ve the best Irish manager with them for the second half of last year and this coming season so he’s probably going to improve a lot by next Jan. €1.6m is massive massive money. But he’s a huge talent, probably our best under 20 in terms of pure raw talent. Just under 6ft, very strong decently fast, but a very smart player. Hasn’t looked out of place at all since he made his debut at 15. Obviously a much lower level but older players have struggled in such a physical league.

League of Ireland would be around League One/Two level btw. Although idk how long it will stay about that with the money starting to trickle down there recently

  13. Well that’s cool. Hopefully he continues developing well.

We signed a few academy players yesterday too. The only one that sounds promising comes from Chelsea. Would be awesome to finally be the club to benefit from a stud Chelsea prospect who was pushed out.

Melia came and met Rodgers I think, he definitely had a tour of our training facilities but we were never competing with Spurs.

That's pretty sick. Newcastle should always have the Sam Fender sax guy to play them onto the pitch.

Hate these super tight VAR offsides. Don't think we even got a replay showing the lines on that one.

I think St James' Park is scarier than Anfield on nights like this lol.

Never seen our back four look so rattled.

  22. Not looking forward to Anfield tomorrow lol

It honestly will be a miracle if we hold on to the lead.

Missed tonight’s game because I was seeing Origami Angel. Looks like I made the right call.

Hope Newcastle go on and win it. 70 years without a trophy is mad for a club like them.
