Having arguably the most expensive squad ever assembled might be helping too... :-p

Sterling is an amazing little player, what a season he's having.

This is made all the sweeter by how much our racist press will be hating every minute of it.

Scaloni needs to go. Argentina would be much better without him

Sterling has definitely become one of my favourite players. I think that he's such a good guy alongside being a good player helps.

Sterling is seriously on another level this year. And I’m talking about the year starting around the WC. Pep was able to tap into something. Even when he’s not getting goals or assists it’s clear he’s helping a ton.

I was pleased to see how calm England were about Montenegro scoring. That's very different from a few years ago, when the team would have panicked, the fans would have gone insane and the football would have been terrible.

Definitely agree @MrCon, this is such a refreshing era for the team and the country. As a fan, I feel as though the team can breathe for the first time and believe in themselves and their ability. I just hope that we don't start putting insane amount of pressure on them in the build up to the World Cup 2022 (or, indeed, even the Euros next year).

We've got the nations league to play for in the summer, which will hopefully be a chance for these players to get some experience of being in the final stages of an international tournament. It's such a good opportunity for us to win something and hopefully a couple of games against decent teams in a competition. Our euro quali group is pretty abysmal...

The nations league has absolutely no value though, everyone knows it's just a way to make friendlies more interesting and to avoid playing nothing but shit national teams in between actual tournaments.

  23. I forgot the nations league was a thing

They’re gonna do that during the summer? Do the players ever get a break?

    It's only 2 matches.

You've just said it has no value and then explained exactly why it does. ;-)

It's still just "glorified" friendlies. The only reason it exists is to justify the absurd media costs and ticket prices. I work for a football club in the farmer's league myself and this is how UEFA's pitch to clubs was perceived.
