Theo Hernandez sent off for diving. Feyenoord have got just over half hour to get the goal that will send them through. I noticed Gimenez scored after one minute v his former club, too!

 

Just came in here to mention that. LOVE seeing players get a second yellow for diving.

 

And they got it in the 73 minute!

 

I remember banging on in here around the time of the silly Rice red card about how players getting sent off for more minor things ruins games.

Diving is the exception. I’d even be fine with retrospective action and bans when there’s no contact.

 

I think when the dive is that obvious, a second yellow is more than warranted.

Realistically, diving/embellishment is just a part of the game in a way. If someone feels some contact, there’s a decent chance they’re going to go down and hope for a call. I hate it, but I get it. And there’s no way to really get rid of that. But the dive from Hernandez was just awful.

 

With respect to Feyenoord, whichever one of Arsenal or Inter get them in the next round has to be feeling pretty confident based on this…

 

Just read that Feyenoord were missing eight starters. Fair enough then.
