Amorim really stumbled onto something by swapping the positions of Bruno and Kobbie. Bruno’s agility and stamina work really well in an isolated midfield two next to Ugarte while Kobbie was struggling there. Mainoo strengths of ball carrying and link up place in tight spaces are being utilized more in an advanced position. I also like Bruno as a CM because it forces him to be more disciplined and pick the right/smart passes instead of forcing things too much which leads to constant giveaways.

Jordan Henderson is a right plonker isn't he. He never had a reputation for being smart, but he's gone a long way to removing any doubt.

Even aside from the Saudi ordeal, now with Ajax. The move slightly rehabilitated his image, became core player and club captain, middle of a title race, day of a crucial European game, week before the biggest league game of the season, couple of days before the window closes. Downs tools and advises the club he'll refuse to play the rest of the season if they don't allow him to move to Monaco. Club stand firm, tell him he won't be moving, now has to come crawling back and pretend he misunderstood the situation and he'll still play the season.

  7. Yesterday’s game didn’t have a lot of stakes and it was against a pretty weak side, but that will be a memorable game for me, and a lot of other fans. Winning 3-0 and all 3 goals coming from U20 academy players, and it being each their first goal, was awesome.

Seeing pictures floating around of all 3 guys in their Spurs gear from when they were basically little kids…yesterday had to be such a huge moment for them.

I’m not sure how rare it is for something like that to happen, but I’d never seen it before. At least not with Spurs.

I don't know if I'm more concerned about Arsenal not making any moves or the lack of an FM 2025 update!?

    SI promised one for January!

Why don't we know the R16 placing for the seeded 8 who are already in it? Does everything get seeded based on the league standings once the playoff is over? So lowest remaining positioned team vs Liverpool, second lowest vs Barcelona?

I know everyone is doom posting about FM25 but it's hard to feel confident in SI when they leave it until the literal last day to give us an update, really doesn't inspire confidence that they've managed to get the game playable.

Very hopeful that they post an update that makes me look a fool for doubting them though!

Nah, it’s just so they can do ANOTHER stupid draw, and keeps things a little up on the air I guess?

Poor wording on my part! I meant an update regarding the new game where the release date was pushed back until March in October, and they have been deafeningly silent since...

  19. Di Marzio says Spurs and Villa are both trying to bring in Tomori on a loan deal, with Spurs leading the race.

Would be a solid pickup. But frustrating that he’s been available all month and we’re just now making a move.

We know 1 vs 2 can't happen until the final, 2 v 3 and 1 v 4 until the semis, etc. So that mean's we're getting a R16 that looks like this (assuming winners of the playoffs) because the other draw options aren't as "blockbuster". Let's try to remember to come back and compare to this guess and see how much of a "draw" it is.

    (2) Barcelona/PSG
    (7) Lille/Atalanta

    (3) Arsenal/Juventus
    (6) Leverkusen/Madrid

    (4) Inter/Milan
    (5) Atleti/Bayern

    (8) Aston Villa/Dortmund
    (1) Liverpool/Benfica

  22. It’s just a way to allow the team who finished 1st in “group stage” to face the lowest seed in R16. It’s like the American sports that re-seed after each round. At least that’s how I read it.

At the risk of doomposting the most plausible explanation is they bit off too much to do in a single gameplay update, and are now scrambling to disentangle themselves from the licensing agreements that say they have to release a game every year.

Yeah everything I've seen about that game screams red flags that an absolute disaster is incoming, and if it does even release it will be because of contractual obligation.
