    United look abysmal.

    They will win 1-0.

Lisandro Martinez is a properly horrible little prick. A dangerous player.

    Could Neville’s 8-0 be beaten?

I have literally no connection to or really any feelings regarding this squad, i’ve realized. I cheer for the players representing the badge and wearing the shirt, of course, but i’ve just never felt this apathetic about a group of players before.

The kind of group you have where you start a FIFA/FM save with them and sell them all and rebuild.

Amorim asked on Rashford: "Today on bench, we miss a little bit pace, to go change game, move some pieces. But I prefer like that. I will put Vital (63-yr-old GK coach) before I put a player that don't give maximum every day. I will not change."

I really wonder what he did.

    Mad.

As an aside, I still remember listening to the media fawning over this stupidity and calling it “refreshing” lol.

  14. We aren’t losing because of the high line though

I think it was just used as a point on the timeline where it all started to go wrong results-wise.

That said, I think it’s completely reasonable to argue that Ange’s gung ho style doesn’t help at all, but that’s a slightly different matter.

  16. Yeah, I think there’s some flaws in it. But I also say it’s kinda impossible to judge this season given the circumstances. If we were to sit back and try to play conservative like so many suggest we should during the injury crisis, we’d likely be beaten even worse.

We’re losing an insane amount of one goal games in which our attackers miss multiple scoring opportunities combined with awful turnovers on the other side. And I think a lot of these things come from guys either being out of the lineup, or severely overplayed in the lineup.

  17. Am I wrong that this guy is overhyped?

Be twice the ocean. Be twice the land.

Spurs neither helping Ange through reinforcements in the window or bringing down the hammer and bringing in a more conservative manager (which I think would be an awful decision fwiw) to work with the depleted squad to turn around results is utterly bizarre.

I do slightly understand it from a squad planning basis. Like everyone knows there's very little value in January windows, and you don't want to buy someone that doesn't fit your long term plans because of an injury crisis, who will then not have a place once the injured players return.

I don't actually believe that's why Spurs have been reluctant to pull their finger out, so is slightly devils advocate, but still.

  20. We’re basically at the point where new signings are whatever. It needed to be done early. It wasn’t. Damage has been done. We’re getting guys back soon and that will be the reinforcement. They’ll come back and keep us from getting relegated lol

Still being alive in all the cup competitions is the only positive from the season. If we get Romero and VDV back in time for the Liverpool cup game and hang on to advance to finals it’ll be huge. And I think with a healthy squad we have a real chance in Europa.

Would be funny to win a trophy or two but finish 14th in the league.

There’s no point getting rid of Ange now.

Getting a conservative manager in might stabilise them in the short term, but they’re still going to finish around 14th-17th either way, and they’d just be stuck with a manager they don’t want.

Even if they’re shit under Ange, they won’t get relegated cause the teams below them just can’t put the runs together to catch up those 8 points. It might be embarrassing for the club and fans, but they won’t go down.

They might as well see it through to the end of the season, say “thanks but goodbye” to Ange, and get in someone like Frank or McKenna, who can spend a season bedding in without Europe, and try to get them back in the top six (which will be very hard).

Sucks to see Rashford dismissed from the squad, you always want to see the academy players stick and succeed with the club. Seems like the only thing that will help him at this point is a change of scenery.

  24. I’m curious what happens if we finish bottom half (likely) but win a trophy. I suppose if the form in the league is trending up along with the trophy he is safe. But if we’re still 15th and shit with a trophy, it could make for a tough decision.

It’s kinda funny how Spurs have produced three of the top 30 footballers of this century thus far (Modric, Bale, Kane) and all of them feel like lucky accidents. In all the years I’ve followed the Prem, it’s never felt like Spurs have ever had an identity other than “we should be better than this” and it’s in large part to how damn good those three players were (admittedly, two played their best years away from Spurs).

In hindsight, Levy’s management decisions have been crippling the club for a while on the pitch, but not in the wallet, and Kane just covered it up.

I don’t think this is any new revelation, but also goes to show how much one or two players can truly influence a club without a team identity.
