That one on Diaz was nothing at all. The other I think he got away with on a technicality. Can't be a cynical foul if the ref plays advantage?

 

Push in the back can be given as a yellow definitely, maybe a tad soft but they've been given. The first one though, you see the ref go back to book players once the play is dead after giving advantage all the time. That was a textbook professional foul.

 

I don't disagree. I fully expected him to book Joelinton when the ball went out of play.

I see it. I just think the dive is the worse of the two “violations”. And with calls going the way they did there it just incentivizes the wrong behavior

Why are giving this when you would never get a freekick for it in the middle of the pitch?

BBC are being a bit disingenuous there I think. The first penalty wasn't really controversial at all.

As for the second one, that just feels like we're marching towards a situation where any contact in the box is a penalty, which is idiotic in a contact sport. When they showed the replays during the live game, I couldn't even work out what the contact was meant to be. Dubravka could have blown Jota a kiss and it would have impeded him more than whatever actual contact was made.

 

One of the all time terrible appointments given where they were when he took over?

We could definitely use him for depth. But I’m guessing Ange didn’t want him in the summer so I doubt he wants him now. He’ll probably be loaned out again.
