has a team ever had a meltdown like this over an award?

I get team trophies matter for this individual award but it is pretty funny to me that Vini only had two more goal contributions for Madrid than Darwin had for Liverpool in essentially the same amount of minutes

33 for Vini in 3,067 minutes, 31 for Darwin in 3,030

obviously Vini is a better player, much higher ceiling, etc but this level of meltdown from all of Madrid and their fans when Vini was barely better than Darwin at being directly involved in putting the ball in the back of the net is wild lol

 

Where was this meltdown when Messi was winning over Ronaldo? It’s such a dramatic reaction and for what, in the end? Literally everyone else is just laughing at you now.

 

Always cool when someone other than a striker or winger wins it though.
