I look forward to next years edition of FM where 1/4 of your league games in turkey are thrown out due to riots or you play a Mike Tyson punch out mini game

    1. There are no steins outside of Bavaria
    2. We don't call them steins anyway

    Otherwise you're right

Maß krug, right? Always liked the term stein myself but I won't be using it anymore if it's incorrect.

Yes, Maßkrug if I am being pedantic (remember we like to put words together and form a new single word). But you can use whatever you like of course. I just always found stein a weird term. I have no idea where it comes from. Stein actually means stone in German.

I think it dates back to the 1800s in Britain. There's a word close to stein which literally means jug. Must have caught on back then on these shores.

Interesting. I always thought it came from American GIs that were stationed in Bavaria after WWII. I never knew it was even a thing in the UK.

Turns out I had Bayern fans to the left, right, front, and rear of me. That was great.

the bad part was that upon entering, they made me take off my coat and trikot and store them for the game which meant I was really freaking cold.

I really liked the Volkswagen arena, though. The view from the upper level was great, still felt above the pitch rather than far removed. Very easy to walk to and from the city center, as well. And getting to see Musiala score a goal in person was fantastic.

A few days left of this trip, but I must say it’s been so positive that I am already trying to convince my wife we need to come back. Going back to Munich tomorrow and need to find a cool maßkrug (I wanted to say stein) before we fly back to the states.

I’m slightly hopeful that this will have a positive effect. Maybe clubs will feel empowered to challenge issues surrounding player welfare like too many games, pointless friendlies, expanded tournaments, etc.

This statement would carry a lot more weight were it not for e.g. the new Champions League format which is designed to benefit the top clubs / big leagues

    This SUUUUUUUUUUCKS.

star league? Jesus fucking christ this isn’t Mario Kart. Fuck off. Crazy bad branding, who wants to win “The Blue League”?

Also, the whole promotion/relegation thing actually means the same clubs will stay in as it’s super hard to actually fall that far, even if you have a terrible season or two like Chelsea.

It also makes it really hard to actually crack into the big competitions even if you have a great season domestically like Aston Villa. It’s a more closed system pretending to be otherwise.

Also, notice how it’s no longer the “European” super league..?

100% certain they’ll have invites for teams from other confederations, namely Saudi and MLS clubs are going to join.

Yeah everything about it fucking sucks hard, can totally see it happening though.

The branding (league names) will probably be substituted for sponsors. The "free games" will definitely either end up behind a paywall, sold to the highest bidder, or be full or horrendous ads with stoppages in the games like NFL games. So much bullshit in there.

100%, Saudi will be all over this soon enough. Wouldn't be surprised if they're a major investor in it also

The only silver lining from a UK perspective is our club's won't be able to join (there's already talk of legislation to prevent it - but whether the Tories can be trusted to do it is another thing). Sure they'll try their hardest to join regardless mind.

  22. “I spent the entire [champions league] final counting down to the 90th minute. On the way back to the hotel I fell asleep on the players’ bus. I felt really bad during that period, the link to the collision with Alderweireld and Onana was quickly made. I went to almost all specialists, but no explanation was found. I couldn’t go to a restaurant. I tried it once and had to leave after 10 minutes. I couldn’t tolerate crowds, I fell asleep anywhere. Normally I never sleep on the road, during that period it happened everywhere. I felt there was more to it and kept talking about it. Now I am convinced that it was a mental-psychological problem. Now when I see photos from that time, I immediately see that something was wrong. That my eyes were different. I was also often ‘down’.”

  23. Jan and Dele both coming out recently and talking about this kind of stuff makes you wonder how many players are struggling with this now.

Definitely. There will be no UK & German clubs, and likely no French clubs. I also think Inter were the only Italian team to actually pull out so who knows with them.

Would love this to fail and they have to come fleeing back. But UEFA aren’t much better.
