And Roma got the winner on the last kick of the game, naturally. They ended up playing an additional 26 minutes.

I mean they played the 18 and then somehow in that accumulated 8 minutes of stoppage time lol

PSV just needed a win of any kind to secure the Eredivisie title over Feyernoord.

Instead, they won 8-0 away from home.

I know Brighton love to play from the back, but this whole game has been like watching them continuously wave a peice of meat in front of a Tyrannosaurus Rex

This is actually a really interesting case, and shows how overly complex these decisions can be for the people making them.

  12. I thought I was toast after having to use my wildcard early because of injuries. The last two weeks I was given a lifeline.

If I’m not mistaken, this is the same thing you’re referencing that Sam just posted up there. If you wanted to hear the VAR process on it.

    Davo taking a step back

certainly makes sense considering he’s been running Jeopardy! quite ambitiously for a bit now

Rog and Davo’s infectious love of the game was what caught and spurred my attention towards soccer

occasionally I’ll see clips of other soccer podcasts on tiktok or instagram or whatever of a roundtable of like 25 year old YouTubers talking about matches and I just can’t be bothered to listen, does not resonate with me in the slightest

but MIB have been exceptional for me, pure celebration of the game, not focused so much on hot takes or rehashing boring debates about who is the goat or whatever

and I’ve loved their expansion into covering more women’s soccer

I’ll have to give them a listen, I honestly haven’t heard anything of theirs. I’ve been a Footbal Ramble/Football Weekly person, plus some Arsenal stuff (Arsecast for humour, Vision for tactical analysis).

I know some people like the Athletic’s Totally Football Show but I find them unbelievably tedious.

I will say, as much as I love MIB, I’m not sure how well it works from the perspecive of a UK listener. Despite the hosts being English, their audience is overwhelmingly American and the discussions are sort of tailored with the understanding that the audience is primarily American, so the hosts act as a conduit for English soccer and soccer culture. But even aside from that, I think they are astute observers of the game, provide good commentary/analysis usually, and call out flaws/injustice when appropriate

I do enjoy the clips I see of those former footballers talking about their careers, like Roy Keane reviewing his red cards on some show. Otherwise, I just listen to The Anfield Wrap, who put out a lot of content, most of which is pretty good

I had no clue that one of the MIB dudes was the same guy running jeopardy. That’s wild.

  18. Seems like they have a good process. I still don’t understand how they were so quick to deem this a red when I compare it to numerous other examples that weren’t given the same ruling. This video actually made me more angry haha because at one point they freeze and zoom in at point of contact and it’s not even direct studs to shin. It’s more the side of Romero’s foot into his leg. The other examples I’ve seen go without a red were straight up studs into ankle or shin. Much worse.

Good process but it lacks consistency.

Stadio podcast now on The Ringer is another solid podcast. Again more geared towards an American audience.

Love Stadio. Although they do lose me occasionally with the Marvel references as I have seen precisely one of those films ha.

The Sweeper is a good recommendation - they cover weird and wonderful stories from around the world that make you remember why this sport rules.

Best centre back in the league this year for me, ahead of VVD and Saliba. Doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

  24. He’s not quite there yet, but Van de Ven will be in the “best CB in the league” conversation soon if he keeps at this trajectory.

Those early games of the season where it looked like he'd been dropped (he wasn't playing but wasn't injured) are all but a memory.
