Yup. it’s real. But they’ve done this for as long as I can remember. I honestly imagine most of this stuff does better in international markets

I think being in the cup final might save him but two more league losses would be bad. I’m pretty sure that’d put us at 2 wins in the last 9 league games.

 

It's tough, cause this has all the hallmarks of a Jose meltdown/ slide, but there's serious issues with the squad too. The defence needs probably 3 new recruits at least, and the lack of quality depth in midfield is killing them. Been dealing with a lot of injuries too which hasn't helped.

Another thing would be can they afford to pay his contract off in the post-Covid environment when there's so many other glaring issues? But then it's like throwing good money after bad. They're in a funny old position however you look at it.

 

I don’t think the squad is as bad as what we’re watching. The center backs are obviously poor but we have quality everywhere else. 2 wins in 9 matches is pretty inexcusable imo

 

Again, Levy loves him, they had to pay out Poch from what I understand, and paying out Jose's contract isn't going to be feasible to hire someone else. Here's here for another year at minimum.

 

City at home in the next round! At least the final will be 'easier' on paper, then.

Everton are a great club with a good manager, I’m backing them until they inevitably lose 4-1 and we end up with a predictable City - Chelsea final

10-11 Barcelona is when I fell in love with the team. Sitting in a bar on La Rambla watching the derby with Espanyol as a wee college kid who was still learning the sport.

The best starting XI of each of those squads has 8 identical players (6 of whom ALSO played in (5 started) the 14/15 final). Probably comes down to:

David Villa, Messi, Pedro in their primes vs Henry, Eto’o, and Messi in their primes.

I got sucked into a stat wormhole this morning and Pep’s rotation in 2008/2009 was absurd. Did an incredible job balancing a legend heavy squad. 2010/2011 was a much leaner squad.
