I don't know anything either but I was going to say Gladbach. Don't they have a few titles in their history, both generally play decent football and all that?

QUOTE="phaynes12, post: 4066118, member: 12111"]Bundesliga people: who should i take on as a team if I’m a Bucks NBA fan and Spurs EPL fan?[/QUOTE]

I'm not keen on making suggestions based on this type of information. I understand what you're getting at, though. I think becoming a fan is much more meaningful and lasting if you do a bit of digging yourself and see which clubs stand out to you.

Youtube is an obvious source but I am sure there have been some recent articles published on this topic with the recent broadcast switch from Fox to ESPN here in the States.

Although, I think there are actually some older articles out there for picking a Bundesliga club based on the type of cross-league/cross-league comparisons that you mentioned in your post.

But I can at least help you eliminate one option: avoid Leipzig. Beyond that, I'll always defer to @orangehorizon for Bundesliga advice and expertise in this thread.

Edit: not sure what happened with the quote function?

Been thinking about it today, and I've got to say I'm a big fan of the new offside rule where the flag stays down till the play is over. It encourages attacking flair, plus you get to see some cool plays that otherwise would never have happened. Still cool to see goals being scored or wonder saves, even if it gets called back and they never ended up counting.

Leverkusen are definitely the German Spurs, but if you want something different maybe go Gladbach, Union or Hertha.

Gladbach are a side with a lot of history that play great football and aren't the obvious choice, whilst Hertha are an interesting and promising side that generally have a ton of drama. Union are in their second ever Bundesliga season and have a fantastically dedicated fanbase.

Whatever you do, don't choose Schalke.

I know it’s been discussed already, but the way NBC is gatekeeping the premier league this year is absolutely criminal. Surely there are more Americans into the *checks notes* most popular sport on the planet than the Tour de France.

WELL WELL WELL ATLETICO. They need to sell to buy Torreira, we need to sell to buy Partey.

Pundits tonight were saying it shouldn't be considered violent conduct and should only be a yellow. Surely it being extremely dangerous should be enough? I don't believe he's tried to catch him, but you also can't raise a boot like that knowing you've got a player on top of you.

Absolute dross today. Just watched the highlights and it was literally all Brighton.

  17. I really don't believe the Lingard rumors, but if they are actually true it will erase all the good done in this window.

My standard answer to such a question is always: start following the league regularly, watch different games and you'll eventually fall in love with a club. "Choosing" a club feels wrong to me.

But as others have already mentioned, for you as a Spurs fan Gladbach or Leverkusen might fit, maybe also Schalke. Though Schalke would be a brave choice right now.

  19. Do you know much about Wout Weghorst for Wolfsburg? He keeps popping up as a potential Spurs signing. He's a big boy and seems to have a knack for scoring. But that's about all I know about him.

That’s such an interesting red card. I think it was a red, because of where he caught him. But if he caught Lewis on the shoulder, would it still be a red? There was no malice it it, but considering it made contact with the face it was very dangerous, less so it it hits an arm.

I think it's one which is so context based that it's very hard to say. You probably wouldn't get a red for catching their shoulder, but it's also much less dangerous than booting someone in the face, so that's probably fair?

It's a woolly one regardless. I've seen players do very similar things (I remember Colocinni absolutely booting Ba in the face) and get away with it, but I think that one was pretty egregiously silly by the Brighton player.

Seen MOTD2 getting a hammering on twitter for suggesting he was sent off for violent conduct, rather than serious foul play (which includes dangerous play).

Yeah I would have no complaints about the red card but it shows so many shades of grey in these decisions. It reminds me of Nani getting sent off for something similar in the CL against Real, but he hit the guy in the hip.

Suarez to Atleti. Morata to Juve on loan.

What even is this transfer season.

Also - Semedo to Wolves seems to be done. As does Garcia to Barca.

  24. Uhhh so what happens tomorrow?

Edit: hopefully the players are ok. And hopefully they don’t have to forfeit. I imagine a match like this is great financially for them.

    Not really with no fans.
